It would have to be made in such a way to be able to affect any personโs brain, which is going to be hard because everyone has a bit unique brain.

Iโm no expert in depression, is it just caused by for example stressful event or is it โstructural errorโ (with all respect, if it sounded bad).
You can. Itโs called hypnosis.

Giving your mind away? You donโt give your mind away in hypnosis. In hypnosis, youโre in a state of increased suggestivity. In other words, your mind can be reprogrammed as long as the reprogramming suits your will. You canโt hypnotize someone to force them into murdering people unless theyโd be willing to do so in certain cases. What is dangerous though, is erasing or sealing memories as doing so can make you forget your past mistakes.

Sentence really makes me wonder how much you know about either depression or hypnosis?? Not saying Iโm an expert or youโre dumb or anything like that, just, I donโt tend to say stuff like that.

I am not expert at this either. But I donโt think hypnosis is a good โdepression cureโ.

I am not actually particularly pro-hypnosis but I donโt think Iโve ever heard anyone who knows much about it say anything about giving your mind away. That seems to mostly be just like how itโs portrayed in fiction which is a terrible way to learn about something. Additionally โis xyz really better than [insert mental illness]?โ is a sentence you learn to wince at if you have any mental illnesses or even just friends with some. honestly you might not be wrong, hypnosis might suck or be totally ineffective, Iโve never been hypnotized, but to my knowledge no mind-loosing is involved and most people I know with depression would think itโs pretty cool if they were confident it worked. However, most donโt seem to be rushing to be hypnotized, again, maybe youโre right. Maybe they would be if antidepressants were harder to get or the hypnotists had a better marketing department, I donโt know.

As far as I can tell a depression cure should remove depression permanently, not temporarily, which is not easy to achieve.
Medication is the number 1 choice for family doctors because they hate sending requests for therapies, scans, etc. Itโs easier. However, antidepressants become less and less effective the more you try them, according to Wikipedia IIRC.
I was analogizing them to hypnosis, not support and a better medical system. Those do sound better, but I was comparing one step fixes. Also Iโm american. We love medication (joke)

Anyway, Iโm starting to think about trying hypnotherapy.
