Microbial thought:
When your cell is large, your max zoom should increase too. Conversely, when cell smol, max zoom should decrease.
Non-microbial thought:
If auto-evo time bloat is unfixable, I would suggest meddling with playthrough length to make one run last much longer. And provide stuff for the player to do while auto-evo is running, and boost the player’s evo speed maybe. (Also, aggressive species-cleaning - i.e. more extinction - might help with that too.)
Should be included.
You can’t attack other cells of your species right now, I don’t think. That should be changed. I want to be able to stab and poison my own species (even if I can’t engulf them).
Enabling cannibalism has been suggested many times before (which is why I moved the above post here). The reason that it isn’t enabled is that it needs specific design to have drawbacks / trade-offs for it.
Also you should put small ideas / posts into existing threads and not open a new thread for every single small thing.
Here’s an issue with Microbe stage.
Very, very large cells display badly. They take up a huge chunk of the screen. This isn’t super hard to achieve but makes the game nearly unplayable (actually unplayable, in regards to the Multicellular stage).
I’ve noticed. I don’t think it seems too high priority bc you can just not, and truly enormous cells, while they do exist IRL, tend to be at a disadvantagr anyways. I have of course considered the scrolling out limit increase which would work, but that seems to incentivize growing for no reason. I think another option is that the camera could be moved from being centered on your center of mass, to being centered on any edge of you (like panning around inside yourself) or on any chemoreceptors (so you actually have to work for it, and would make them a much more important organelle)
There is a related open issue:
It’s been open since 2021 but there’s been no volunteer to take up and fix it.
I think there should be a limit for cell size so there are not titanic cells that struggle with diffusion. But how small is a hex considered, 1 micrometer?
I mean, there are giant cells around the world, but they have unique structure to continue functioning.
Yes but I mean cells that would be impossibly large
You mean how large would that be? It’s going to take forever to get up to that size anyways.
I don’t really know because I can’t see anything that says if a hex has a relation to real life size but I doubt there could be cells much larger than the earths biggest cells which are (google search) 330 micro meters
there are some larger “cells”
Wow that’s a crazy cell. It would probably too complicated to implement stuff like this but if they can I think it be amazing if could we make awesome monsters like this. I can already see YouTubers being like “I made the biggest cell in thrive!!!”.
Maybe it could give more functionality to nuclei, they could implement a hex cap that’d be increased by X per nucleus; that way players would be incentiviced to try out multicellularity if they want more stuff, but would still be able to create giant cells if they can deal with their needs
