Turn 21

Turn 21 Summary:

The Phyade I System has reached 1 Billion Years in age after it formed. This has brought important changes to the planets that orbit around their parent star, including for life in Treerilia-Xanrillon-mini-Xoruta planetary system. The two distinct groups of the Panspermium Tribe Clade (or Thrivium Phylum Clade if continuing from Phase I) seems to be converging in terms of evolution. The group that cannot use Hydrogen Sulfide has started to successfully evolve light-utilizing organelles found in the other Hydrogen Sulfide group. Time will tell whether this convergent evolutionary trend carries on in near future.

Speaking of time, the Geological Activity of Treerilia alters further. First came Heat Pipe Tectonics of the Lost Eon (~4.6-4.1 BYA). Then in the newly named Doomshadow (formerly Eoshadow) (4.1-3.6 BYA) Era came vertical Drip Tectonics. Drip Tectonics has begun to slowly wane, with primordial horizontal Plastic/Putty Tectonics beginning to rise to prominence. However, the Mantle has cooled ever so slightly, making small parts of AUK, ADK, and AEK ultramafic crust oceanic slightly more rigid than before. This has an important consequence, as instead of just floating or merging when two parts of the crust collide, one part of the crust starts to subduct. On the other hand, the small increase in stiffness of small parts of the crust is insufficient for Continental Passive Margins start to form, with the mixture of various Komatiite Greenstone-Belts, Tonalite-Trondhjemite-Granodiorite (TTG) and true Granite continental crust still stretched by Putty Tectonics. This early evidence of true Plate Tectonics will not survive, causing future sapient Geologists to debate on when it truly began. While not yet all the true signs have emerged, like Opholites, Blueschists, Platforms, and Wilson Cycles, actual horizontal Plate Tectonics has begun in very small parts of the globe.

With true Plate Tectonics just starting, other changes have taken place on Treerilia, such as Ammonia now diffusing the world. While the continents have not shifted, the gradual erosion and primordial tearing of the early Continental crust has now made Runoffs affect the land biomes. Even the oceans are no longer truly safe, as Upwellings now come from the bottom of the seas and increasing compounds, with Current Dilutions going down to the bottom of seas and dispersing compounds. Runoffs are occurring in the Olaitic Tidepool and Gorkonramic Estuary. Upwellings are occurring in the Lecarenese, Karmaric, and Bazasasese oceans. And Vent Eruptions are occurring in the Unovaskysian Volcanic Vent. An additional 10% chance now occurs for Ph and Salt concentration shock on all individual land biomes with Runoffs and all sea biomes with Upwellings and Current Dilutions. Despite no Ph and Salt shock occurs on land (0.708) or ocean (0.635), Upwellings, Current Dilutions, and Runoffs affect individual biomes.

All of these changes have impacted the world and organisms in other ways. Global Glaciation will take place sooner than expected (depends on when Oxygen will increase). Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide organelles have become more efficient. There is now greater Prokaryote Toxin production. Hydrogensomes have increased ATP production. Thermosynthesis organelles now produce Glucose rather than ATP directly. Nitrogen-producing organelles increase population, as well as Chemoreceptors. Let the Falseshadow Era (3.6 BYA – onward) commence.

Unovaskysian Epipelagic

Iterum toxus (Ecotype 122) of the hero-postus Species Clade has evolved a Cytotoxic Toxisome. This increases the Predation pressure on any other organisms encountered, if the toxic organism was not alone. It decided to head 336 degrees (5.872 radiians) Southwest, after taking 1/3 of the health in damage from the Toxisome charging up. A strong current pushed the unlikely hero back into a cloud of Glucose, but it did not last long. Fellow members of this ecotype came and stole the rest of the compounds, where the organism avoided being infected by nascent evolving virus (0.251). Still heading in the same direction, Iterum toxus found a small cloud of Phosphate, and then followed a current to small clouds of Glucose. It was about to run out of the Glucose several times, and even had the unfixable lag damage bug, but still managed to make it to division at the end.

Lecarenese Ice Shelf

Hydronitrum Majoris (Mutant 87) of the Hydronitrum Species Clade had evolved Proteorhodopsin. It seems like convergent evolution may be occurring once more on Treerilia. Living on the edge due to temperature tolerances, just below the 20.2% percent threshold, the organism did not encounter additional Ph and Salt shock (0.907) due the Upwelling. Heading 236 degrees (4.125 radiians) Southwest, the Nitrogen loving organism also encountered the unfixable lag damage bug, forcing the organism to become immobile, or move slowly. Since the organism had Proteorhodopsin, when light dropped below 16%, Hydronitrum Majoris started to take damage from having insufficient. And then it became infect by nascent virus (0.005), dying (0.188) and releasing virus particles from its icy grave. Cha became extinct due to being eaten by a virus.

Karmaric Epipelagic

delplasmair confoundus (Ecotype 130) of the airmelpara Species Clade had switched the reproduction order of its Melanokoids and Hydrogenase. Its biggest challenge would have been Ph and Salt shock from Upwellings, but it did not occur (0.277). Heading 189 (3.30 radiians) degrees South by Southwest, the organism was confounded by a group of fellow ecotypes. It managed to find a mediums sized resource cloud. delplasmair confoundus tried to engulf a small Sulfur Chunk without success. Within the resource cloud was a nascent virus, and it was avoided (0.397). After being blocked by a large group of itself, delplasmair confoundus divided.

Gorkonramic Estuary

Nextralumus Bet (Ecotype 127) was the only living organism in the Hydrogena Genera Clade to have evolved a Rusticyanin. Similar to other members of the Neo Species Clade, this Hydrogen and Sulfur loving organism did not encounter Ph and Salt shock (0.121) from Runoff. The organism bet on going 117 degrees (2.037 radiians) Northwest, and it paid off by encountering a large resource cloud of Hydrogen Sulfide and Phosphate. It even was able to engulf a small Iron Chunk for good measure. Then at the most inopportune moment, a strong current came and started to push organism away from the resource cloud. A virus particle nearly infected the organism, but Nextralumus Bet managed to dodge it (0.343). After finding another resource rich cloud, the organism had not issues with dividing.

Gorkonramic Coastal

Neo Largo (Ecotype 125) of the Neo Species Clade evolved an extra cytoplasm. This odd shape made it have slower turning and forward speed in exchange for more ATP. Neo Largo went 229 (4.00 radiians) degrees Southwest, passing by several terrain chunks in a maize like fashion. When gathering resources from a ribbon of Phosphate and Ammonia, it became infected by a virus (0.0499), dying in a rather large fashion (0.398). aah31415 has become extinct due to a new virus infection.

… Forced deep within the Treerilia causes small Granitic Eruptions in the Unovaskysian Mesopelagic, Gorkonramic Estuary, Gorkonramic Coastal, Gorkonramic Underwater cave, Mosbobasese Epipelagic, and Bazasasese Epipelagic. doomlightning has gone extinct from a fiery grave.

… A Stony-Iron Meteor came from the opposite side of the Phyade I star where the Treerilia-Xanrillon-mini-Xoruta planetary system was located, crashing into the Mosbobasese Epipelagic.

0.9.1.1 World

Notes:

Note 1 – I did not expect that many Players to go extinct this round. Two out of five, or 40%, just from viruses! I guess the ongoing meme of this FG β€œanother turn, another mass extinction” continues to be accurate. Even though events only occur at 10%, sometimes the perfect confluence of probability occurs to detrimental effect. I hope we can get to 1.0.0.0.

Note 2 – I will attempt to post the Options for Turn 21 sometime over the weekend, but it may take more time due to having Final Exams starting next week.
