Intermediates (Now Open) | Evo Game

I think AA made it manually.
…Also is the image hosted on the forum?

I first used the free online diagram maker at https://app.diagrams.net. It allows you to download and upload XML, Bit Map (png), Bit Map Vector (svg), and HTML files. Then I had to copy and paste the whole thing onto PS Paint after grouping everything, since saving the entire thing directly as a picture made the picture and text too small to be read.

I presume the first cladogram was made with that method?

Yes. That was the start of the same clade diagram. Just make sure if you want to move a large amount of objects in the program I mentioned that you first zoom in relatively close before selecting all objects. If you try to move a large amount of objects from a very zoomed out position, the resulting new positions may be off by a few pixels.

Do you plan to streamline the process more with future cladograms?

Most likely. I will also try to make the diagram more compact, but the size of the clade diagram will depend on how many intermediates mutate and how many turns we last.

I suppose there will be one cladogram for each Thrive Stage we go through?

Do you want me to do this for next starting organism/LUCA?

  • Yes! Randomization!
  • No. Keep LUCA as it would be in the game.

Since the next starting organism/LUCA will emerge immediately after the total extinction of the previous FG life, we could have this new organism acquire some traits of one of the previous turn’s organisms via natural transformation. I will use RNG to determine which of the subspecies from Turn 13 this will be. This is not mutually exclusive to the previous poll, as we can have one member of the new LUCA population get transformed.

  • Yes. It will somewhat keep previous progress.
  • No. A fresh new start is better.

If you answered yes, then how many traits should the new LUCA obtain from the previous organism? I will RNG to determine how much of each trait will be incorporated.

I am planning to add natural transformation/horizontal gene transfer as a mechanic for Phase II. Keep in mind it does occur rarely (~1%) in nature, but due to the sheer number of generations and number of times external matter can get ingested, it will likely occur far more often.

  • Yes. Horizontal gene transfer will make things more interesting.
  • No. It will make the FG more complicated.

If you answered yes above, do you want me to increase the percentage of natural horizontal gene transfer?

  • Yes. Greater percentage means more interesting dynamics.
  • No. 1% is fine and realistic.

I am also planning to change the organelle progression system slightly. Like in real-life, the organelle genes will need to duplicated first before they obtain new functions. For the FG, this will mean Cytoplasm needs to be duplicated before other organelles get unlocked. Other cell changes, like behavior, membrane, e.t.c., will mutate as normal.

  • Yes. Add it from the beginning of Phase II. It makes the FG more scientifically accurate.
  • No. Do not add it now. Maybe for Phase III.

Does cytoplasm act as an organelle unlock anywhere?

Not in the regular game. Though it would be interesting if you had to first duplicate/place down another Cytoplasm hex first before other organelles get unlocked during the next turn of Thrive…

I feel like this would extent the FG’s microbe stage too much…

If we had the Cytoplasm Duplication Unlock AND the Natural Transformation, both may end up evening each other out…

And otherwise they’ll drag. Maybe we can go for “both or none”?

Should I still include CatSquared and Rocketsgobrrrr, in case they come back to the forum?

cat^2 has been visiting the forum from time to time, and rocket… might be less certain to get here again soon. You should still include them of course.

It looks like Cha is the only one left who needs to cast their votes.

How much time shall you give them?

Based on my previous wait times, probably a week.

I don’t think cha will be late to casting their votes. They appear here fairly frequently…

Since I want to avoid bias, I will let RNG choose for me; RNG roll … 35.69%(The second Option). We will get temporary immunity from meteors in the biome we will start in for Phase II!

Seems like a great idea!

Also, should I continue to use the previous Phase I classification clade names for Phase II?

  • Yes, keep using the previous major classification clade names.
  • No, FG life already went extinct once, so use new clade names.
