Notes:

Note 1 – Interestingly, even though new species have emerged, the base Panspermium species mutated enough organisms in different niches compared to the new species. This means predation will become important again.

Note 2 – With new species come new opportunities. Does anyone wish to attempt to do Endosymbiosis? It is possible to Endosymbiosis with being the same size as your potential Endosymbiont, as long as you are big enough after organelles reproduce.

Note 3 – We have now reached the Genera Clade again! How far will we go this time?

Note 4 – Since JustaDumbThriver and Rocketsgobrrrr went extinct during this turn, they will can choose organisms after everyone else has chosen their organism from their own respective lineages.

I’ll choose mutant 68 and name it Panspermium Melanosis.

Why am I still playing😭 i haven’t even been active in months.

Once you’re an intermediate, you’ll never escape.

I still kept you in the game in case you came back. Welcome back to the forums! Using the power of RNG, CatSquared has gotten Species 96! This means you and JustaDumbThriver can either have Mutant 69, or Species 97.

I am not sure rocket still wants to play here…

I’ll have S97, and name it Hydrogena revivalis.

Do we allow rocket to leave? I think that’d be for the best as they don’t seem interested anymore.

Uh given I do not have any options I think you guys can figure out quite easy my single species of choice to continue with (and as they’ve not changed they’re not getting a name change)

Yeah, I suppose you could only decide about the name if you wanted to here…

Does anyone else want to change the name of their organism?

If we get to multicellular in this fg, would we get to name cell types?

That would make sense to me.

Otherwise it’d default to something like “cell 1, cell2” or would it describe the function such as “factory, mover”?

Possibly both, like how proteins/genes/cell types/cell lines are named in real life.

So number names would be for different kinds of cells in a cell function category?

Maybe. When scientists first find something, they may or may not using a numbering system. Later, when a proper name is used, and more things are found related to the first thing, they often add numbers to the end of the proper name.

I see. You’d do that to AI species I suppose?

Notes:

Note 1 – I hope Rocketsgobrrrr is ok. It appears Rocketsgobrrrr is not interesting in rejoining the FG, so the remaining unchosen organism will become an AI player.

Note 2 – Is everyone fine with their chosen organism names?

Note 3 – JustaDumbThriver and CatSqaured can do Endosymbiosis this round, if they wish too. JustaDumbThriver can go for Melanosome, while CatSqaured can go for Hydrogensome or Chemoplast. As a reminder, there is no population penalty for being Endosymbiositized.

Note 4 – University classes are increasing their workload. I will try to complete Turn 16 this weekend, or sometime next week.

Also, I am thinking of eventually also adding the “Relative Species” concept. This is different from the “Absolute Species” the FG is currently using, where once an organism reaches the absolute threshold of four new mutations, it is considered as a different species. However, relatively speaking, why would the new organism consider the previous generation organisms (if they still exist) to be a different species when the mutation difference is less than four? Same thing works forwards for previous generation organisms (if they still exist). And even in the real world, species do naturally hybridize, and sometimes hybrids have better fitness than either species alone.

  • Yes, add the “Relative Species” concept for the next FG turn. It is more realistic.
  • No, do not add “Relative Species”. It makes the FG more complicated, and every FG turn is 25 Mya.
  • Maybe add the “Relative Species” later in the FG.
