Why don’t we split up photosynthesis? Photosynthesis can be divided into collecting luminous energy to make ATP ,using ATP to obtain hydrogen source and carbon sequestration. It will allow for different photosynthetic pigment, such as carotene and chlorophyll; anoxygenic photosynthesis, such as using H2(No consumption of ATP or even produce ATP) and H2S(Low consumption of ATP) to be hydrogen source, not only H2O; more carbon sequestration pathway, not only C3. At the same time, it will be compatible with chemoautotrophy, because ATP is universal.
