From the FAQ:

While Thrive was originally widely inspired by Spore’s intended concept, we aim to portray a creature’s evolution in a fun and interesting way while remaining scientifically accurate. Evolution will play out on not just your own creature, but those around you, each competing to survive within the simulated environment.

If that is what you want in a sequel to Spore, realism, then this is the right place. If you’re looking for Spore’s infinite creative freedom, then Thrive’s focus on realistic physics and biology might find your creature unfit for survival.

If you are playing the current game, feel free to ask a question about it e.g. How do I proceed to the next stage? (Answer: you can’t.) You can also ask about later game but don’t expect an essay (although you may get a link).
