The game wants me to evolve chemosynthesizing proteins even though there is no hydrogen sulfide in my patch at all. It also really wants me to have rusticyanin even though they are garbage (in my experience). the patch I am in has 32.11% oxygen, but auto evo still hates it when I get metabolosomes.

What patch are you in? What settings are you using? It would be helpful to give screenshots of what you seeing so other people can get a better idea of your problem.

Uhhh… yeah, you’re right. I should have taken a screenshot. That’s on me. I quit the game because I got frustrated.
Here is what i remember:
- Hard difficulty
- Hydrothermal vent start
- Encountered the bug while in the sunlight zone (coastal, estuary or tidepool)
- Experimental features enabled
- Auto evo wanted me to be both aggressive and sessile, but didn’t care about anything else
- No nucleus
- LAWK only

It would help a lot if you could share a screenshot of when the suggestion is made. A save would also be very helpful as that would mean that other people could also check what happens and why the suggestion is made.
Also if I remember right, the suggestion is made based on the global population. So if your species is in one patch where hydrogen sulfide is usable that might mean that it is recommended even if it doesn’t help the patch where the player currently is.

The game probably rather sees it as a good alternative foodsource available in the patches your species inhabits.
I think this is not a bug in fact you could see where most of your population is , and I think since you’ve started in a hydrothermal vents they are in much need to chimiothentsize then what you think

Also remember that these are suggestions and not rules that have to be obeyed.

I migrated my entire population out of the hydrothermal vents, and migrated the entire population to the surface area
