this is open source, you don’t do it for pay, you do it for either clout or to have a random bit of software no one asked for.

So in 99% of cases it wouldn’t be beneficial to do that.

It can take a while to create a functional unique linux distro I presume…

Distro Idea:
A Pop!_OS derivative with a Windows 7-like desktop environment. Also the numpad enter key plays a bass boosted fart sound when you press it.

Is it really worth it to develop this sort of OS? If it doesn’t exist already?

new distro idea: horrid netbsd derivative using a linux kernel but the netbsd software and package manager

or any bsd derivative with systemd

We should make a distro specifically optimized for running Thrive. All it has is the minimum requirements for running the Thrive executable, nothing else.

Start with Linux From Scratch, and add on to it.

Would it just be called ThriveOS or something?

That, or RevolutionaryOS. (ThriveOS sounds better, but there might already be something called that. Then again, there are other things called Thrive anyway, so name conflicts are to be expected)

To be fair, by the time we reach the point at which we could consider creating this OS, conditions could’ve changed for what sort of name would the OS take…

As I can recall, one developer did just that, but they couldn’t maintain it.
