Ah right. Also pretty sure there are still more dinosaur (bird) species around than mammal species even today.
do you mean if it’s in both it’ll get it lowered to 2.5, or .5%?
cause you said 5% for 5 most populous, 5 most widespread, and species in both
oh and is there also a thing for being a generalist, or small, since irl small things and generalists are more likely to survive extinction events?
And what are the 1st place buffs?
Maybe? The only true champions are Beatles
Do you mean Beetles or Beatles?
The insect that makes up a lot of biomass in life
So the former you meant I see.
Hey, I’d like to join if that’s okay. If it’s possible to, then what do I evolve from? A more recent species or the base one from the beginning of the post?
Either is okay. You put one mutation per round, so since there have been 4 rounds, you have 4 mutations. That is, if you are splitting from the original species.
Thanks for the information- I’d like to start from a blank slate and evolve from the original species. Also 2 quick questions before I make my organism:
- It’s been over 3 rounds- has my potential species branched off from the base creature that it’s now its own genus?
- Is marine snow available as a food source?
Both are true. Snow is yummy, and your species is a different genus.
Okay here are the changes I’d like to make:
The organism loses the poisonous properties of its flagella to serve as a more locomotive purpose. They grow quite long.
Resistance to basic toxins
On the front of the organism, a barbed harpoon like organelle emerges- somewhat like the organelles that some dinoflagellates use to hunt prey.
A specialized cell evolves within the organism serving as a way for the creature to digest nutrients.
Oxyphoenus ensisops, common name hunting lance, is a small early pursuit predator that hunts other organisms around its size. Its life cycle is similar to its ancestor (the base creature) however rather than hunting other organisms they feed from marine snow.
Sorry, this is my first time doing this so sorry if I messed anything up
You didn’t evolve many cells, so you are the smallest organism here, but that doesn’t matter, because SPIKES!
I guess it hunts things larger than itself then as it’s the smallest creature so far. But yeah I agree, spikes!!!
Can these take down organisms of any size with enough huntmates?
Probably, but they won’t cooperate in packs like wolves or lions. I’d imagine that if they’re at the right place at the right time, they’d take the opportunity to all go for a larger target, then head their separate ways.
Would that be a reliable survival strategy?
To be honest, probably not
Well there’s still time to change the mutations…
i feel like they might evolve before then
are we still waiting on anyone’s mutations for the next round?
