Music suggestions (for new Thrive tracks)

That was a joke post. I’m actually not sure any player would descend.

Descension is already an ingame feature though.

It would be used by around 5% of players most likely though…

I mean, it gives a sense of continuity…

I imagine descending would only be used to do things you looked over before ascending.

Or just starting a new game in a fancy way.

I imagine that even when descending you will still be able to keep your Ascension Stage save file, so there’s not really any downside to doing so! Maybe if the only bonuses to descending are stat bonuses in your next run not many people would be interested, but if you were able to gain much more exciting bonuses (for example, the ability to smelt metals underwater lol) I think a lot of people would use it!

(sorry if my writing is messy! i’m very tired at the moment lol)

The addition of such possibilities would depend on if the devteam will continue to exist following release 8.0.0 (when all the 8 stages are complete).

I don’t think the development team would disappear even after all the game’s stages are technically finished! It’s always possible to add new features/make new balance changes/fix new bugs in a game like Thrive, and since development is so open to everyone I don’t think their will come a time where Thrive gets an official “final” update (though of course there will come a time where Thrive is updated for the final time).

I guess so. But there could be areas of the game more in need of updates than adding underwater civs post-ascension.

While it’s completely true that there would probably be better things to add than underwater civilizations, I don’t think it’s ridiculous to say that the community that has been so infamously obsessed with such an idea for over a decade would jump at any chance to reasonably add it into the game .

Bold of you to assume it will take a single decade to finish the game from now…

I’m curious why you think that? From recent gaming industry trends it seems a new game+ modes are very popular to add. So surely many players need to enjoy them to be worth the effort? And descension is basically a new game+ mode in Thrive so I would expect that many people who get through the game once and are still feeling like playing more would be quite likely to make the descended run their second playthrough.

We’ll probably complete microbe stage development with 800 backlogged issues. I expect that number to just go up for each stage as there’s a combinatorial explosion of potential game mechanic interactions as we have more stages. So by the time we can call the game “finished” we probably have like at least 5000 backlogged issues.

Which are going to be the first tacklings done post-full-release (if they’re not handled for the full release that is).

Post-apocalyptic soundtrack that plays when an advanced civilization is falling apart for one reason or another. It is meant to represent hopelessness and a new world order.

So like after a nuclear war or a major solar flare, right?

This applies to any event that destroys civilizations, be it the fall of a great empire due to barbarian raids or the fall of a meteorite.

I suppose that’d push the player from space to industrial for example… Which as stated should not be possible.

I think it should just be shuffled into the beginning of the stage.

It would also be nice to add: Eusocial soundtrack Machine intelligence soundtrack

Which stages/their parts would these soundtracks take up, and what would be left over of the “regular soundtrack” for civ stages?
