Post your soundtrack suggestions to thrive!
My soundtrack suggestions:
The soundtracks of events causing mass extinctions (such as supervolcanic eruptions, mass cooling, supernovae, the fall of a giant meteorite, etc.) should be dynamic and at the same time gloomy, indicating the approaching Armageddon, in the generations after the extinction but before the restoration of biodiversity, gloomy music will be played, and in generations during the restoration of diversity, music will be played to indicate restoration.
The music of the industrial stage, in my opinion, should indicate the dynamism and changeability of this time as a result of the industrial revolution, so I think it should be more dynamic and more reminiscent of the soundtracks of Victoria 2/3, and the soundtrack of democracy in general, in my opinion, is too futuristic for this stage.
Music for the macroscopic stage?
I guess so, through you’re sure you are not being influenced by that music video’s thumbnail and “theme image”?
This is assuming that life, society, and technology will follow the same path as Earth. Who knows? Maybe a steam punk civ, if it is possible, may never develop rap music and only like electronic music. Or they may not even prefer non-nature made “music”.
It’s not impossible that industrialization would take a lot longer for a different species than it did for us for instance
Soundtracks for world wars: sound at moments when a world conflict is taking place on the planet, should convey the atmosphere of a world war, the sounds of guns, explosions of marches, can be both happy and dynamic, personifying the offensive, and gloomy, personifying the horrors of war.
Nuclear War Soundtrack: It may be similar to the World War soundtrack, but completely dark, and it will also feature nuclear sirens.
If a nuclear war caused a nuclear winter (or other event forcing the civ members to go hiding), perhaps it would fade out into a wasteland-like theme?
One idea for a song that I’ve had in my head for years is a much more dramatic version of the main theme that would play as the player tried to construct an Ascension Gate. This would be the last chance for your civilization’s enemies to defeat you before you gained infinite power, so I think trying to survive an all-out attack while such a song plays could have really great atmosphere!
True. Actually, I think trying to make an ascension gate could be the equivalent of allying with grox in spore, since you’re pretty much threatening the existence of all other civilizations in your galaxy by becoming an allmighty god.
I think the final stage of the ascension gates construction should feature even more dynamic and dramatic music, representing the “final push”. I also think inspiration for these soundtracks can be drawn from the frostpunk:last autumn soundtracks.
What should be the music for when you’ve ascended?
I personally think this theme could work for the ascension stage! It feels very bittersweet to me, which I think works for a post-ascension theme - your species that you’ve guided since they were mere microbes on a barren world have achieved godhood, but your journey has reached its end.
Well, as long as you don’t descend…
