I’m unsure if this is intentional and personally think the logs wouldn’t really highlight the issue, but entering macroscopic phase will softlock me by providing no tissues to edit or duplicate, and locking me out of further progression.

If you still have the game open or it’s easy to get to: could you post a screenshot of what’s happening so we can be sure what’s going on?
Simply hit PrtScr when in-game and then Ctrl-V (or right-click, paste) here while making a comment (or editing a comment)

I re-entered the game, and i had my tissues, so it seems like it was a one-off thing, but next time I encounter it, i’ll get that screenshot.

Welcome, @C0RR0DE! If you also have the game log, please paste it either in your post, or in pastebin if it is too large. The game log/output will help the devs find out what caused the issue.
