Is this 6-5fps your lowest tolerable threshold at the beginning of the game, or what Thrive is performing nearer to the end?
It depends on whether my computer just entered out of sleep mode, and/or has other programs running the background, such as having a browser open. The performance can suddenly tank to 1 fps if the HDD is doing too much processing, and sometimes it goes up to 10 fps. I can visually tell the difference, as the game is more smooth when starting up verses when it isnβt.
These are my results with a i3-3120m, I thought the results would be closer to yours, but they seem to be around double. Might be because this CPU comes with HD Graphics 4000 instead of your computer with HD Graphics 3000

Have there been any cases yet when old devices can straight up not run Thrive?
Most modern games canβt run (literally canβt open) on this hardened sponge, so itβs quite the miracle this thing can run thrive, the newest game I can reasonably run is eu4 (2013 game) but it can run things like RimWorld (also 2013 but had a lot of updates and big DLCs) pretty well until it overheats.
And I donβt really use this thing to game, but while my desktop is unavailable I thought Iβd try to see if this fella can run thrive, and 10fps sucks but itβs ok if Iβm being honest (for this senile heater)

Oh so the 1 fps thing was benchmark only?
That is 50% more RAM than my computer!
That probably explains why you got a lower fps scoreβ¦
Yup, for some reason it really pushes the laptop, tho I do play on the lowest amount of entities, so maybe thatβll do it.
BEHOLD! ONE GOOD THING ABOUT MY SMART LIGHT BULB!
How does your laptop do with autoevo exploration tool?
Tested out a i5-2520m that also has HD Graphics 3000, but it actually seems to do even better surprisingly. Gets about 15fps minimum in the microbe freebuild, averaging 25-30fps. Not bad for a midrange 2011 CPU/iGPU.

These tests were run on Thrive 0.8.3, @AbrahamTheBro was that the version you used?
I think they wouldβve specified if it wasnβt the latest oneβ¦
Yes it is.
I ran 10 generations and it did them near instantly, but itβs been 35 minutes since I had it run another 15 and itβs still going.
This pattern seems to be pretty common where the speed falls of after around 10 gens, maybe this has to do with oxygen levels rising and the species spreading?
ITβS DONE! After almost an hour itβs done! 25 gens per hour is a good rate for this brick with a hint of silicone.
so like 15 gens an hour really since the first 10 went by so fast?
Yeah I suppose thatβs true, but I want to let this dusty grandpa to feel as if heβs still in his prime.
Not sure it can feel much. Are his days counted?
Iβm sorry, Iβm not that PC savvy, what does that mean?
Do you plan to retire the old one soon?
