Organelle Ideas

I hope Hydrogenosomes get added eventually, as seen from the Thrive Suggestions website.

Would they be a branch-off from mitochondria or will you be able to evolve them from hydrogenase alone?

I am not sure which way the devs are planning for it.

Maybe we could see it being developed both ways…?

Proteorhodopsin is a potential LAWK organelle because it exists in real life. It’s light sensitive, but no thylakoid or chloroplast. Shoutout to @AnthropocenianAge for introducing me to that organelle.

Seems too similar to an another organelle we all know which is in-game. Probably not worth the effort.

We should add a BIG flagella for eukaryotic cells, to solve the issue of eukaryotes being too slow to do anything. It should grant more speed than a regular flagella, but will have a lot more cost. The flagella currently in the game are too small to do anything on eukaryotes, so we might as well add better ones made specifically for eukaryotes. Imagine if Choanoflagellates had flagella as small as E. coli’s.

Isn’t flagellum elongating already a feature within the game through?

they’re still the same mechanism of propulsion though, eukaryotic flagellae are much bigger and provide more thrust, but are much less efficient, since instead of the motor also used by atp synthase, they use myofibrils to power them, which also causes the flagellae to move differently

I did not know that! Thank you for letting me!

Myofibrils are multicellular organelles in-game through, so would this kind of flagellum only be unlocked in multicellular?

actually, eukaryotic cells outside of multicellular organisms have plenty of reason to use myofibrils, like changing their shape, making minor and major adjustments to the positions of your organelles without having to make even signalling proteins, contracting a section of membrane, pulling in food particles more effectively, being able to split bigger cells(also amoebas, they pull themselves into multiple cells, rather than squeezing a midsection of membrane, but that can also use myofibrils), rapidly pulling in tubes of cytoplasm so they(or you) don’t get eaten, etc.

so, while they are multicellular organelles in game for now, once single cells can actually benefit from myofibrils, they will likely become eukaryotic organelles, rather than multicellular ones, and actin and myosin are both proteins most eukaryotic cells make, and combining them makes actomyosin, which is an early, unrefined version of myofibril that isn’t as efficient or effective, tho myofibrils are technically still a type of actomyosin

Would myofibrils just give you a higher speed stat like they do in macroscopic now?

that wouldn’t be very realistic at all, but they would provide an increase to engulf speed, but any other benefits other than to max cell size would have to wait until after soft body cells are implemented

Isn’t engulfing like instant at the moment?

It’s not so likely to ever get implemented…
