So, at This Suggestion, someone mentioned “passive phosphates”. How does that even work?
If you play the latest Thrive version (0.5.10) with the default options, you’ll have passive reproduction enabled, which gives you free ammonia and phosphates. The “science” explanation for how it works is that those get absorbed from the surrounding water, but there’s technically no difference with that compared to them appearing out of thing air (or well, water).
If you don’t like that, you can disable the passive reproduction feature in the advanced new game options.
