Spike the magnetic field (1):
ARK attempts to boost the magnetic field, but their is no easy way to accomplish this without high power nuclear devices.
Create oxygenating bacteria (4):
ARK also creates a species of bacteria, which make a green film that produces oxygen out of the soil, though they don’t seem to make the soil more or less fertile.
Create aquatic bio-domes (2):
The IFC attempt to make something to house the bacteria. The domes, when seeded with bacteria, become extremely scummy and hard to manage, they do their job, but can’t be maintained.
Create a colony (IFC:3 Crest:3):
The IFC and Crest Colonization both attempt to make colonies, and the colonies end up in close proximity and are united. These colonies become the homes of the first Alterrans.
Generate an atmosphere (Crest:6 RSA:4):
While others work with bacteria, Crest Colonization takes it into their own hands. Their atmosphere generators are extremely effective, and RSA does the work of distributing them across the planet.
Deposit Resources (3):
RSA attempts to seed the planet with resources. While materials such as iron are already in abundance, many organic resources need to deposited.
While slow, they are eventually spread across the surface.
Create a factory (4):
DARK constructs a factory outside of the colony. It is a specialized factory that produces oxygen while refining ore, albeit in small quantities. The more important feature is providing the new citizens jobs and producing steel for colonies.
Plant photosynthetic bacteria (6):
DARK gets a sample of ARK’s bacteria, and plants them on a small, sunny ridge. Whether by adaptation or sheer luck, they thrive, forming a bacterial sheets that spreads for several miles.
Remove steam (3):
SGC attempts to remove steam from the atmosphere to make it warmer. Through some large pumps, a lot of smoke and steam are removed, making the planet several degrees warmer, still freezing, but close.
Release phytoplankton (3):
While other tamper with bacteria, SGC takes a variety of phytoplankton from earth and releases them into some of the warmer ice sheets. Most perish, but a few seem to thrive in the cold, oxygenless water.
Planetary Review:
The magnetic field is still weak.
An atmosphere of oxygen has been formed effectively, about half of Earths pressure.
Oxygenating bacteria and phytoplankton are loose.
The first major colony has been founded, complete with a steel mill.
Nutrients have been deposited.
The planet has mildly warmed.
Two more companies have been selected to terraform the planet.
U.G.F - For their advances in genetics.
Mirage - Because despite being an accounting company, they’re not the Hilster company.
Employees from the new companies are ferried to the star station, introduced to the others, and given their grants.
