Unix is so weird. I suppose it makes sense in the context of file permissions because it matches up with the options you have but no normal person would choose to use anything but bin hex or dec imo. I also might just be an irritating zoomer in a world of elder unix users who don’t find unix weird at all, but coming into unix and learning things like “your devices are all files” and “your cpu… is a file” and “user permissions are everywhere and there is not a simple solution to your problem other than learning how permissions work” it makes me wonder why we take it all for granted.
The more archaic a solution is, the harder it gets to understand it the old ways…
And it does not help that computer operating systems are becoming more and more complex as time goes on; at least, they seem to become to complex from a person who does not do programming.
I can guess actual programers would find them easier to navigate and understand…

Another creature answers, “What did you expect with creatures who come from the ocean.”
How long ago did you come up with the pun?
I honestly don’t remember. ![]()
Oh, I though you came up with it just now…
I found a note with this joke on it, but I did not put down when I wrote it.
Probably a long time ago.
Also pretty sure that joke would still mostly work if it were humans talking and not creatures
There’s Opera GX, but what about Opera GF? It’s for people who need a girlfriend haha.
Wouldn’t that suggest “Opera BF” also exists?
