Quick Question Thread

I wonder if we should encourage more people to make Thrive forum accounts so they get a better sense of the game?

I am not sure the forum is the same thing as the game itself

At least they will see how it is to be a part of the Thrive Community.

Would you be willing to do that next instead/alongside of promoting the game proper?

With Instant Kill Protection Off, this would make the game insanely difficult (one-hit kill)?

Itโ€™s just for the occasional case where one attack deals a lot of damage at once. Youโ€™re usually protected from that instantly killing you.

And pretty sure one-hit-kills were pretty rare before the protection was added anyways iirc

I have only ever been one hit killed as a Prokaryote with the original Membrane. So this should just make the first few generations easier.

And itโ€™s not like pili will be in the ecosystem from round 1 on too, they could take longer to appear.

So there will not be livestreams for 0.9.1.0 and 0.9.2.0?

Seems like not as there were no question threads around. Or they will occur but have no questions from the forum atleast.

Is it still planned to add the Sprinting Tutorial?

The roadmap has those two points still to do:
โ€œPolishing up any obvious rough edges in the new player experience to have a really solid base for the game to expandโ€
" Make proper short tips for the microbe stage and the editor"

I think they would cover for this?

That issue is โ€œstarted but stuck (help wanted)โ€

Not really unless someone else picks up the work. 0HyperCube has started quite many PRs that have never made it into the game, which is a shame.

Will the โ€œabandonedโ€ roadmap items be moved into some sort of a post-1.0 roadmap for microbe things or be hidden completely?

Thereโ€™s just a few items that are likely to be skipped. They will be put in their own special roadmap section at the top.

AFAIK thereโ€™s no currently abandoned roadmap items, but abandoned issues and PRs will still of course stay on our GitHub. Thereโ€™s roughly 600 more work items on GitHub than is on the roadmap as they are insignificant enough to not warrant requiring working on them. If we needed to finish off all of the issues itโ€™d likely take like 3 years still to complete the microbe stage and weโ€™d need to actively make sure no significant amount of new issues would pop up over those three years as we might never finish otherwise.

Wasnโ€™t it said there would initially not exist a roadmap for multicellular items and features?

How are macroscopic single celled organisms such as Valonia ventricosa going to be handled?

They were on the roadmap. Not saying they are worth delaying 1.0.0.0 for, but, they arenโ€™t on the map any more and, as far as I know, they were not finished either.
