Quick Question Thread

If it’s done I presume (more) stuff for immune system cells would also be added alongside?

Well, like I said if we were to try to introduce this level of organisation, this would be an overhaul of every part of every cell.

Would some of the features of that overhaul be also backported to the microbe stage? Or would it all be a later evo stage thing?

I explicitly did say:

And just to be clear, this:

Means I think it’s unlikely to happen to happen even if somebody did volunteer to do it.

Regarding the end of the sporepedia patent in 2027, are we to expect the work on a Thrive equivalent to sporepedia (or a massive update to the ingame thriveopedia with many/more sporepedia features) to begin immediately upon the patent’s end or at some point later when we’re ready?

In the first place, the case for a “Thrivepedia” of this type would be limited, given we mostly wouldn’t mix the life on one planet. But perhaps something similar could be used for other discovered planets? In that case, there would not be too much value in this before Space Stage.

Another thing to keep in mind is that all the online storage space does not come free…

I see. Given how late into the development it’d come, I suppose this could give RG time to develop and be able to perhaps afford such thriveopedia servers…

what is this button and why did it appear in one of my games with experimental features enabled? it seemingly has something to do with iron and toxins

When i press it, it shoots out an orange beam similar to the toxisome but it doesnt seem to do anything

This is the siderophore, it’s used to chip away smaller iron chunks from big iron chunks

Should Fix context-specific tracks playing multiple times in a row by remembering LastPlayedTrack instead of index #6906 close Avoid context specific songs playing in a row #6319, or is there more to that stuck issue?

Considering how vast the thrive codespace is it wouldn’t be surprising that some clone issues (or the elder brethren of the new clones of themselves) would be forgotten in that heap (which means it would close 6319)

The second link you gave is actually a pull request, and not an issue.

It was an earlier attempt to implement a fix for the issue #5615 (which is the actual issue here, and not a pull request like your links). But as that old fix attempt is no longer needed, so I went ahead and closed that pull request.

I’ve been thinking, since it’s probably kind of too late to make this change now with the focus being on multicellular, when else will this be worked on? I recall it was said some members will remain on working on stages earlier than the current focus, so would it be their task to implement this large of a update to microbes/mutlicellulars or would the focus temporarily shift back to the 2D stages for this one change?

I think you’ll find that with the nucleus now doubling cell specialization effects, it’s a lot more powerful than before.

And even before that change, the new auto-evo mutation system was basically going “Oh yeah! Throw that thing in there!” very frequently, just based on defence and storage stats.

Are you saying those factors are enough to justify not adding the non linear size system (as they would appear to mimic it’s proposed function)?

Ah, Sorry, I jumped to conclusions when I saw “Nucleus Paradox” in the text.

Right now, there are no plans for an escalating size cost on cells. At most we have discussions about size costs in Multicellular:

Then shouldn’t the non linear size thing be moved to the debatable features shelve where such features as full endosymbiosis lay?

I mean not really because it is talked about enough to not need a big team debate before it can be implemented. It just lacks resources (and prioritisation to get those resources) in order to be implemented.

I suppose the same goes for multiplayer?

I hope an implemented multiplayer would not too buggy.
