It might not cause problems to the ecosystem if the animals are kept in captivity.

I suppose rather soon weโ€™ll see regulations arise for the status of such โ€œdeextinctedโ€ speciesโ€ฆ

I saw that same video this morning, so I decided to look into it. According to The New Scientist, it only resembles a dire wolf, and genetically is not that similar. Closer to a hybrid/grey wolf than an actual dire wolf. But they did try to reverse engineer an extinct species, so itโ€™s still impressive. The BBC has another good article about it. The Wikipedia article about it also provides some more information about how they arenโ€™t technically dire wolves, as they are a different genus.

I wonder how much will this field of science have developed over the rest of this decadeโ€ฆ

100%, from the looks of it itโ€™s more of a weird marketing ploy than any serious attempt at de-extinction. for example: why white fur? I have what I think is a really good guessโ€ฆ Jon Snowโ€™s wolf Ghost from GoTโ€ฆ need I say more?

Iโ€™d think an actual โ€œfirst successfulโ€ deextinction attempt would be carried out on a species which died out in historical times and has alive close relatives.

Would the Dodo bird be a good first candidate? It is related to pigeons.

Iโ€™d think a better candidate could be sometime like the northern white rhinoceros, since itโ€™s a subspecies and so should be rather easy to โ€œdeextinctโ€.

In case people are wondering about differences between Minecraft and its movie.

Itโ€™s to be expected that a live action movie would have some major differences to itโ€™s videogame counterpartโ€ฆ

Apparently, there are a lot of people who did not like the movie. Why do people insist if a movie isnโ€™t โ€œgoodโ€ that it is meant for children? What happened to films that are good quality for children?

This could be a part of the fallout the concept farms had on the perception of what sort of quality are the children used to seeing.

This is something the Jurassic World trilogy failed to consider. โ€œLetโ€™s save the dinosaurs from the volcano!โ€ sounds like a terrible idea. It wouldโ€™ve made more sense if the true villain would be someone who wants to make sure they die.

Maybe that villain would also be an one who might just have a pointโ€ฆ

Yeah no they ainโ€™t dire wolves lol pathetic.jpg and all that
they literally argued against their own research solely because they knew they couldnโ€™t make jackals (the actual closest living relative of dire wolves) look nearly as cool as a white big grey wolf.

Itโ€™s almost as if we shouldnโ€™t have the dead (species) riseโ€ฆ
