Ribosomes

I think that this would probably be a good idea, and until the protein system is implemented, it would probably serve to have this be an organelle. However, the problem arises of how a cell would choose between repairing cell membrane and replicating proteins. A possible solution to this would be to have the ribosome organelle be modifiable, where, at default, the Ribosome would prioritize repairing the cell membrane, and use any leftover resources (phosphate and ammonia) to replicate proteins, and it could have modifications allowing it to be specialized for healing or growing, though I don’t know of any real world scenarios where this actually happens, and I doubt anyone would actually modify their ribosomes unless it had a similar bonus to vacuoles where they can heal/grow more efficiently by specializing. Another possible solution, mentioned in Reproduction and the Gameplay Loop - #25 by 50gens, is that phosphate could be used to repair (and grow) the membrane, and ammonia would be used to replicate proteins. The question then arises if ribosomes could only do one at once, which I think would make sense, but I’m curious to hear feedback on this idea.
