Would ribosomes even work as an organelle? I feel like if anything you would either need to add a ribosome-covered endoplasmitic reticulum organelle or have there be a ribosome count slider in the microbe editor.
There are also ribosomes attached to the membrane of ER.
Yeah I just edited my post to clarify that. If we were to add that organelle nucleous would need to have ER removed from itās modelā¦?
You mean with an upgrade to include ribosomes for nucleus? That would still have the ER. But as a visual cue, spots could be added to the ER.
Edit: Ah, you mean organelle.
If weād been going for ribosomes could we also add the golgi apparatus alongside them?
Yeah, it can stay either way.
Realistically, ER and golgi are in almost all nucleated cells. Usually, ER includes both smooth (less ribosomes attached) and rough (more ribosomes attached) regions. Gamewise, it could be a nucleus upgrade with number of attached ribosomes slider setting I guess.
What would be the benefit of NOT having ribosomes?
Gamewise, I donāt know if it would have a benefit.
I searched this a bit. Not having ribosomes on ER literally means they are on cytosol instead. The only difference I see between these two ER regions is that they affect where the final compounds will go (e.g. in cytosol or outside the cell).
I did not suggest adding ribosomes to the game so someone else may come up with a better idea.
I think it might be too late to add ribosomes now that we are after 1.0.0
Its never to late. Anyone willing to put the time into developing something that meets the Devās approval could add whatever they get approved to add. Though, this particular idea sounds like a lot of work for not a lot of benefit.
I say that more as now someone would need to implement the concept all by themselves, which is much less likely than if they had dev support
Perhaps having less ribosomes would allow for more cytoplasm, though this would only impact mid unicellular stage sometimes as glycolysis is unlikely to account for much energy production once the player gains mitochondria (or even just aerobic respiration) Truthfully, however, you are correct, as ribosomes donāt actually take up that much space (or at least I donāt think they do, I have no idea).
Yeah I donāt think you could have them realisticly significantly reduce the amount of the plasm
