Scanning and Cataloging species?

I was wondering if this game will have some sort of catalog similar to No Man’s Sky where you could look back and see the fauna and plant species you’ve seen as long as you’ve scanned them.

I would love to be able to catalog species and know information about them such as average lifespan, diet, weight, preferred biome, etc.

I know the future of this game is still a bit away but is there any idea if this will be added?

There is a discussion on the dev forum about having an encyclopaedia that shows you everything you have discovered: species, places, planets etc.
