Where would orion drive(s) belong in between “real techs” and “scifi techs”? They were never built irl but according to the engineers of the project they should’ve worked without any scifi crap thrown at them.

How about techs like Bussard Ramjets, which are scientifically possible but later discovered to be essentially unusable due to the interstellar medium being much lower density for it to work in reality.
