Second stage

Hello, I didn’t write anything there for a long time, but as the microbe stage is going to be released in a few weeks, it’s clear that next updates and patches would be connected with colony stage. Well, I have few questions about it.

  1. How do you (developers) see this stage? Would you leave it like it is now (without any big changes) or it would be reworked?
  2. When you finally make a colony stage, will you add any space “level” between colonies and big organisms?
  3. And the last questions: are you going to make exotic(for games about evolution) life forms, such as parasites and plants?

So, that’s all I need to know for now. I hope the further developing of the project would as nice for you as it was before. Wish you good luck!

P.S. I’m really happy that Thrive is still developing and becoming much greater with every update. Also, this Christmas hats are very cute  .

It will be based off of what microbe stage is like already but will throw it’s own bunch of features into it’s portion of the mix, I’ve heard.

If you mean “big organisms” as aware stage creatures, then macroscopic is exactly that. Otherwise an intermediate stage between the microscopic and macroscopic is not in the plans.

Plants are more or less guaranteed to be added, parasites meanwhile may depend on the goodwill of a determined volunteer to be included.

Wow! So many information! That is interesting! And can you tell, how do you see this stage of evolution in Thrive?

It probably won’t take as long as microbe did to develop, perhaps a bit over an year. Once it’s done it could make a good introduction to the sort of things the players will be capable of making with multiple celltypes working together.

Hopefully, Players will be able to eventually save in the Macroscopic Stage as a part of the Multicellular Stage’s development, just like how saving in Multicellular occurred as a part of Microbe’s Stage development.

Well if any developer finds that important… Though it could be extra likely since we likely want macroscopic to already have something going for it when we switch to it’s development like what happened with the multicellular prototype when compared with the other prototypes.

How the macroscopic creatures will be structured is still basically entirely undecided so trying to make a save format for that data would be way too early to think about now. True, it wouldn’t be that hard to just save what we have now, but we couldn’t promise that any Thrive version wouldn’t totally break every macroscopic save.

Perhaps for the time being we could disable autoevo in macroscopic+aware if that’s possible so that players don’t have to wait all that long between editor sessions at and beyond that stage?
