Secondary endosymbiosis?

You can endosymbiosis a cell that has an organelle of you desired function. For example, if you want photosynthesis, you could endosymbiosis a eukaryote with chloroplasts. The secondary endosymbiosis organelle will be more efficient than a chloroplast. You can also do this for aerobic respiration, ferrotrophy, and chemotrophy. If you think this is unfounded, take a look at malaria. It endosymbiosised eukaryotic algae. I think this should require a polynucleate cell, because malaria is polynucleate. Just an interesting feature. We could add this after Microbe is finished.

That would be hilarious lol, I don’t think that’s going to happen (liek biologically)

edit: yah from the research yall did that I missed and then read their wikipedia articles it seems we’ed need to implement polynucleate cells, which sorta makes sense, you need space for multiple huge organelles, and you need your own dna to not become secondary, it just makes sense. We haven’t implemented ANY nucleus variation whatsoever, so this is a real long term thing,

already has irl

WILD- they seem to have absorbed red algae which are real weird but i suppose that’s fully capable to happen then

There’s also the malaria example I already gave.

I wonder how down the proverbial rabbit hole this could go? Like tertiary or quaternary endosymbiosis, even though those may not exist yet…

No matter what this unfortunately most likely isn’t coming to the game anytime soon…

That’s why I said after Microbe is finished.

Probably even further after that still…

So, maybe after Multicell is when we could possibly see that.

I think the time will only come after aware’s complete…

Ah. We will just have to wait then.

This is also assuming the subject is still relevant by then

You know, I’m really starting to look forward to completing microbe stage and multicellular so that we’ll know what effect that has on work ongoing for previous stages. I have a slight hunch that the activity will be similar as future stages get currently (just a few new things per year), rather than there staying a dedicated group of people who only want to improve an older stage.

So microbe will pretty much become like the “early multicellular” prototype or, say, industrial prototype when it comes to new developments?

I think for progressing multicellular and macroscopic, you are probably right, but I suspect when a (hopefully) much larger influx of new devs and modders come during the awakening aware stage, “a few” will proportionately increase.

Pretty sure we are expecting a large influx during aware development already, not awakening…

Oops, I meant aware.

Also the increase might not be so large if the most demanded missing features are added…

I think some influx of players will happen after the development of the microbes stage is completed, as this will clearly make it clear to those who are following the game, and to those who have just learned about it, that the development of the game is not dead. There will be an even greater influx after the development of the macroscopic stage begins, simply because macroscopic development is highly anticipated.
