I suppose the server could become a pc in case of emergency?

Since Debian server (the OS I would install on the server) does not have a GUI environment, no.

I see. Could the main PC become a server somewhat then?

No, because when you have a server running on your gaming PC, you naturally face performance drops. So, in case of emergency, I replace either.

Also did you mean to say the server has NOT got a GUI?

I presume with some meddling it could still be reconverted into a “regular” pc?

Yeah, but I don’t possess the IQ for that.

y’all are overthinking things- if you want to convert the server into a regular PC, the fastest way is to reinstall with a desktop OS. If want to add a GUI to a server OS, that isn’t too hard, specifically with debian, i have done that multiple times. You may not have a good GPU, but like, those can be plugged in and out. if your PC breaks you can swap the main ssd and gpu to the server in many cases yk

How much do you need to modify a pc by replacing it’s parts before it’s no longer the same pc as it used to be at some point beforehand?
