Small suggestions not worthy of a separate topic

Not actually, the membranes barely have any customized effects in auto-evo. And so adding a new one would just automatically have its relative stats apply their effects.

I think this once again shows nicely how the average person cannot predict correctly how much effort two different programming tasks would take.

It’s always good to be prepared for if the less beneficial prediction comes true still…

I think adding any cut features to the game should come secondary after actually completing the current road map.

A saving grace for many of these ““scrapped”” microbial features is that multicellular development will likely continue to also push microbial stage forward for a good while.

2.5D microscopic multicellular development probably won’t last that long. The only thing that really needs to be done is smoothing out how the cells attach to each other and letting the AI become a cell colony as well. (that isn’t being a player species)

It’s of the same dimensionsal value as microbe stage. I suppose you meant the world around the cells also extends in the z axis, right?

yeah, I was referring to how the iron rocks are 3d assets whilst being on a 2d plane.

Not just iron rocks, all chunks are like this.

I wonder what the community’s reaction outside of the forums would be to the microbe stage finally being complete, or their reaction to the completion of the multicellular.

Positive ofcourse, like everywhere else I presume. One stage down, seven more to go…

A wave of hype would definitely go around, might attract more people’s attention as well.

I think the largest boost of popularity would come with aware getting finished since it’s the last pure evo stage before the transistionary awakening starts it’s own development phase.

Really? I think it’ll be once the macroscopic stage becomes truly playable and in-depth.

Macroscopic will probably also bring a spike, but the one of aware’s end might just end up being even sharper (and larger).

Macroscopic is essentially just the aware stage except the organisms are dumber. I think that the stage will make people go crazy.

Most people are interested in the “creature” aspect of the game, so it might attract some big shot YouTuber online with 1m+ subs.

I wonder what would happen to Thrive then.

Macroscopic will likely provide us with enough resources to maintain a full-time programmer or two permanently, with only aware bringing the true explosion of popularity. Also do note aware likely won’t take very long to develop considering the baseline of macro stages will already have been developed in macroscopic.

When will the Core be made a truly useful part, and not just “this part is needed by the cell to unlock these organelles”?
I have a few ideas on this:

  1. Penalty when exceeding a critical size. The cell will have a critical size, after exceeding which a penalty will be imposed in the form of +5% to the cost of osmoregulation and -1% health (up to -50%) for each unit of size after the critical size.
The formulas for this system look like this: hexes above critical size = current number of hexes - critical size (CAN NOT BE LESS THAN ZERO!)
    penalty to osmoregulation = 1 + hexes above critical size * 0.05
    penalty to health = 1 - hexes above critical size * 0.01
    Critical size for prokaryotes: 10
    Critical size for eukaryotes: 60
It is clear that starting from a size of 26 hexes the core begins to compensate for its high cost by removing the critical size penalty.
The huge advantage of this system is that it is easy to set up and adjust.
  2. Metabolic improvement One of the big advantages of the nucleus is the localization of genetic material in one place, as well as the Golgi complex, etc. All this allows the cell to produce substances much more efficiently and in larger quantities. Perhaps we could give the nucleus some bonus metabolic processes.

I recall there have been proposals to have the nucleus give the organism as a whole an osmoreg discount.

Did you mean “the cell”?

I’m afraid it might be unbalanced.

Is 50% flat damage reduction not a useful thing? Also it doubles your engulf size immediately. It’s the only organelle that provides those two effects so it is unique in terms of what it does.

I know the nucleus doesn’t have that many direct “features” but it does have at least those.
