It’s a “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” reference. They build a supercomputer that spends 7.5 million years pondering the “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything”, and it comes up with “42”. So they build another super computer, planet Earth, to figure out the actual “Ultimate Question” it answered, but it gets destroyed 5 minutes before computing the answer.
Also. the Staff of Life you get from Steve in Spore has 42 uses (same reference)

It should be mandatory reading for everyone to read the Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s also the reason why the censor word on the forums is belgium.

Perhaps we should include more HGTTG motifs as easter eggs?
Would they be easy enough to fit into the easter egg category?

So we should have an entire series of Easter Eggs based off each book in the HGTTG series?

I don’t think we should dedicate to many eggs to just one book

I wonder if we could put some of the forum stuff as eastereggs into the game… like the Tea God.

I guess it could be brought as an easteregg in some space stage dialogues…

Something people never bring up in the what not to include thread how negative language should be represented. I think using the term berkelium for in game censorship could be used.

How about an organic ocean from “Solaris” as a cosmic anomaly that can be studied?

Are we sure such an organism could really exist irl?

considering how trippy (pun half intended) fungus are, i don’t think it would be too absurd.
An pretty neat idea would be to you being able to find Pangonia (the planet we started before we got random name generation) and on it were being able to find the concept art creatures

That could work, though it is to be remembered that disturbance for instance would most likely not be present on such a planet.
Also maybe a banana-planet?
