strong winds can be protected against by having a contractile skin on your hydrogen bladder

Shrinking the balloon doesn’t make it more resistant to normal or shear strain that can result when winds apply a force on the baloon. But I guess we can’t say if a balloon can survive on the great red spot without doing calculations.

what i meant isn’t that it’s more resistant to damage when it’s got less volume, but that the lower volume means less of a chance of something happening that can damage it.
