Season: Disaster (3 months left)
Our monthly congress has arrived once again. It was postponed by a week due to April Fools’ Day - the most consistently dangerous time investigated in the wake of the “Madness” and therefore, the priority for safety was at its peak, especially with the prediction of the ‘disaster’.
The good news is that this month will not happen during the safe monitoring of the metal moles, which were feared to be an attack in the end did not happen and therefore, it was a relatively quiet month.
But the bad news is that we managed to pick up vivid evidence of suspicious movement of a Madness entity of the ‘lethal’ category, the ‘Kaiju’ type, Gaia, approaching the ‘red line’.
The red line means the range of entities of the lethal category dangerous to the city, unlike metal moles, which are defined as ‘to be monitored’, the yellow line is monitored for them and another monitoring factor, closer to the red line. This is a range of 10 km for yellow and 50 km for red.
Gaia, according to information I’m going to reveal later, will probably be the disaster, but it’s not certain because of how she’s currently moving in the spaces within our observation range, thanks to the height of the caldera. It’s worth preparing for anything, especially since this is madness.

Unfortunately, we have encountered a problem with the acceleration of the soil-to-water toxic substance research. The researchers I assigned to handle this under your direction were injured in a chemical accident following exposure to heavy metals present in the soil - including mercury and lead. They were sent for emergency treatment at the newly opened center, but I’m afraid that for now, the soil-to-water toxic substance research has been suspended until the cleanup and isolation is complete. Grey Card: Work with Minister of Agriculture to create a Nutrition program for the city in order to try to combat the higher death rate in certain districts, as different species in the city will require different sources and amounts of crops to suit their Nutritional needs.
I have ordered a team under your instructions to organize information and create a nutrient program to feed all residents. As I mentioned before - the majority of our population is human and most of the agricultural reserve is adapted for human consumption. The good news is that a high percentage of the refugees are also able to consume human food without problems - especially since most are biophysiologically close to humans. Our problem focuses mainly on those who are defined as more ‘exotic’ (in relation to humans). But thanks to cooperation with the local residents and the refugees, there is a department that should be able to feed the residents who lack food. Thanks to the Minister of Agriculture, I can declare that your hard work has paid off - with the initial success of growing exotic food crops and the beginning of industrial-scale cultivation, we can already see a decrease in mortality this month, which seems to have found the problem of high mortality there. It will take time before we see a significant decrease, but with an alternative program of nutrient pills, we are able to push down mortality. The opinion of the exotic population is leaning in your favor.

In general, when I first received your proposal, I didn’t quite understand you, about the fact that you were talking about ‘plants that can attack themselves’ as a way to defend ourselves. Of course, I can’t dispel your vote, so I organized a team that knows about genetic engineering, especially from the Minister of Biology and, in previous cooperation with the Minister of Health, they started working on a biological weapon that can at least distinguish between friend and foe.
And now this is the report from them: To create sapiens plants that can distinguish between friend and foe is quite difficult with what we have and the budget I allocated, but yes, they managed, with the knowledge from the database we have, to create trap vines that, if stepped on, can wrap around the stepper and neutralize him. White card: Conduct research on the metal moles, since they feed on metal perhaps they could be used as mining beasts? A way to sequester and harvest ores more efficiently, though they’d probably have to be killed and harvested of the metals they incorporated into themselves in order to do so. Or at the very least figure out their weaknesses in case they attack.

The attempt to tame the moles proved to be a complete failure and unfortunately, led to fatalities on our part. The moles proved to be very loyal and territorial to the area they took over. So even if we managed to capture a few, they proved to be very stubborn and disobedient and even aggressive. From what we were able to find out about them - they are creatures that eat metals for energy and nutrients to feed their biomechanical systems, and as such they are not selective in metals and are unable to separate them, so the project is doomed to failure from the start.
At least we confirmed that they are not a factor that will attack immediately if they migrate in search of other metallic food.

White Tarot: Create rituals to cause extreme mental harm upon a targeted creature, for the use as defense against attackers
I received a serious report from the experience of some of those responsible for preparing a ritual that is supposed to protect against severe mental damage to the target. Some of the team responsible for this was seriously injured to the point that they are unable to function even after release. The ritual prepared based on the information we have turns out to have a backlash effect that, if prepared incorrectly, will harm everyone around them in the same way. It is suitable for a trap, but not for a targeted attack.
What is worse, the information is leaking to criminal elements and I am currently sending teams to try to locate them before it is too late. I recommend that until these criminals are found, do not bother with anything like this until we are sure that it will not leak to those who are not required or cause harm to our residents, as the patrimonial property of the city.

Grey: Research into using telekinesis to separate the heavy metals from the soil that Crayfish Lobster examined in order to have an additional source of metals and also that unknown substance.
If you heard from a report on the chemical separation of soil and metal materials, there was an accident on their side, but from your team, indeed, we received a very positive answer that your side managed to not only perfect the telepathy technique, they also managed to expand them to material separation in a surprising way more than I expected with my predictions. A single team can cover 10 dunams of soil in a day and separate the materials that make them up.
An experimental group of telepaths who specialized in material separation were significantly successful in separating soil contaminated with heavy metals into their elemental parts. The amount separated is small (since even a small amount of them is very dangerous to biological creatures), but even a small amount distilled from the soil in the experimental group, is sufficient for medical and industrial use, can certainly boost our industry.
I hope it will help Crayfish Lobster that the team that was affected by the accident, will cover what was stopped. But as for the essential materials from the contaminated soil, it is too small to make up for the shortage and is in fact uncertain as to their usefulness for an agricultural form. If we happen to come across a material reservoir such as from the ruins of the nearby city, it would be more useful than ever, but here we are already encountering a shortage of manpower that can handle it.

The report I mentioned to the Minister of Biology is also attributed to you: the attempt at taming proves to be very difficult if we are talking about individuals. It cost blood to try to bring some of them to our walls. But what the Minister of Biology failed to do, with you the situation is different - as individuals, being asocial creatures, similar to their naked mole rats, they live in groups where there is a queen who subsidizes the colony and therefore - they are not good creatures to tame, but it will be possible to keep them in a way that is more like a zoo - in a place framed in glass - something they are unable to eat, and in an environment where they cannot cause harm and generous with metals in their natural form, they can serve as an attraction, as long as the queen is captured, which they succeeded in the operation to capture them.
They are very territorial when separated, but if they are as long as the queen herself is satisfied, they are relatively calm and do not spread out that far, so for zoo displays they are very ideal. They are still defined as ‘monitoring’ in general for their ability to digest metals, but the problem right now is that there is a shortage of metals in our city, so in the long term we are not exactly able to keep them. But with the ability to separate heavy metals and their non-selectivity, it can make things easier to some extent.

Here is a report from the side of the representatives who went out to check the state of our weapons, especially with the current situation…
I have several pieces of bad news following one another:
First: The weapons tested in some of the battle groups were found to be defective, which is probably due to the obsolescence of ammunition, since some of our ammunition before the ammunition industry was established months earlier, are relics of the world before, when gunpowder did not hold up in as good conditions as it does now. Most of these weapons were sent for an attempt at restoration, but here a problem arose when it turned out that bandit forces managed to steal some of the defective weapons and ammunition for testing and killed some of the testers. A team sent to chase them was unable to catch them, as they did go underground - out of my sight - most likely outside the city.
If disaster is approaching us, it should be taken seriously, especially since, following the situation, the shortage of gunpowder weapons will impair our ability to defend ourselves in the event of a disaster.
At least we still have laser weapons and newer munitions and our production rate will accelerate, but it will hurt our budget.

Now that we’re done with your personal reports, let’s get to the general news:
Regarding the metal moles you discovered a month ago - we took them down for fear that they would harm our city in the near future, as long as the ore is there, the metals are essential to the city. This gives us two options - help them out and look for another ore/ruins or confront them and try to clear the area for the benefit of the city.
Additionally, in terms of electricity and population growth rates, there has been no change and there is general sympathy for you.
But there has also been a surprising increase in crime levels that have occurred in the past month, especially with the theft of critical materials and weapons. I have already sent a team to investigate the situation, but I fear that the situation is deeper than it seems. So far, we have not been able to catch anyone connected to these thefts.
Even if the recent events, our budget has been hit a bit to repair the damage, but with the ability to separate heavy metals can compensate for that, but we must not rely on it too much.
This brings us to two main issues that I want to raise with everyone:
This month I closed with a drop below the critical level of essential metals - mainly iron and copper, and infrastructure and construction materials - including limestone that is not common in the caldera area (essential for concrete) and clay. We need to start increasing the pace of exploration and discover additional sources or make an expedition to the ruins of the nearby city to try to take as many resources back to our city as possible or try to confront the metal moles in the iron resources. But with the problem of weapon theft, we are in an uncomfortable place.
The second issue, which I mentioned at the beginning, is Gaia.
Gaia is a ‘lethal’ category Kaiju that we have been following for a long time. I was told that she is a type related to plants and therefore her ability to control plants by observation, very deep control. This could be a big problem for the Alkali infrastructure if she is too close, as we know that in a presence too close (red line) she can affect the growth rate of plants, for better or worse and even finish miners, mutate them and cause problems. Another huge problem - amounts to a height of at least 300 meters high in the depths of our walls, so she has no problem bypassing or causing real damage to our walls in case and she will decide that.
We do not know about intelligence on her part, whether it is possible to communicate with her or not, and it is probably better for us to remain in the fog so that she does not know about our existence, but if she happens to cross the red line, I will declare a state of emergency because of what I mentioned earlier. A team designated to monitor her signals me about any changes that could cause our city to suffer.
But another problem that arises from the situation - which, according to my prediction - has a 45% chance of not being the source of the disaster I predicted for this season, so I point out to you - to demonstrate flexibility and readiness for any possible emergency.
