Support GeForce Now

Hello, I’m GFN client. I’m often playing games from my tablet. My proposal is support GeForce Now service. If I understand right, the owner of this product just need agree permission for playing in the service.

I think this will be a great place to find new players.

Thank you.

Are you absolutely sure NVIDIA cannot pressure the dev team to change their ways via the GFN service? We certainly don’t want to follow in Maxises path here.

@silentium.noxe I’m totally fine if Nvidia would allow playing Thrive on geforce now. I have no clue how we would give permission. If Nvidia wanted they could grab the GPL version of Thrive and put that on GeForce now and in terms of licensing there would be 0 we could do to prevent that. Maybe the GeForce now users need to contact Nvidia to request them add a new game (by showing enough players want it to warrant the effort)?

This is a totally baseless accusation, let’s not immediately derail the thread, please.

Is this for the new GeForce GPUs only? It does not happen for me, but it could be because I don’t have the optional NVida app installed, either.

As far as I remember, it used to be that you could play anything on Geforce Now, but then some big game companies complained and now Nvidia curates a list of games that are allowed. I assume that Nvidia either asks game companies for permission or there is some way for game developers to request inclusion. It is also possible that Nvidia has a “wishlist” for players to send what games they want on Geforce Now to Nvidia to then take a look once enough people have said the same game.

Gemini response about this topic “how it works”

As you have already suggested Thrive for them to be added to GFN, does anything else need to be done before they contact us from their side? Are more requests needed to ensure RG is contacted by them perhaps?

Apparently it was something we could opt in, so I followed the info here: NVIDIA GeForce NOW Developer Portal

and have just now opted-in Thrive for Geforce NOW. So Thrive should become available on that service in the next few days.

Well that was quick. (Should the thread be closed now?)

Why would the thread be closed? And even before anyone has actually seen / played Thrive on Geforce NOW.

Well I assumed the thread was created to opt in thrive for geforce so I assumed that because it was opted in the thread’s purpose was completed. I wasn’t aware of the rest…

According to NVIDIA, Thrive is now available on GeForce NOW.

Only for Premium Members though.

Did the dev team decide for it to be a premium game or was that assigned beyond our will?

I’m sure it’d be worth the premium in about 10 years

I actually really don’t know, all I am aware of is that you opt-in (no NOW a a whole) as a developer. And apparently at least in some cases, games with high requirements get the premium requirement added.

Which is the exact opposite of what Thrive is. So for some reason it seems like we opted in?

Should have been clearer on that, but by that I meant opt-in to NOW as a whole, not specifically the Premium requirement.

There’s just a checkbox in the Steam developer settings to allow Geforce NOW.
It’s just a single checkbox and no other settings so that’s all the control we have.

If so their decision to make Thrive a premium game seems rather bizarre unless they used a fitting criterium that we aren’t aware of (yet)
