It’s hard to tell, but I think I first played it a year or two ago. I’ve played a lot in the last few months, especially with friends
Did you find evolve first?
I think so? I barely played Evolve. I remember finding it lame as hell. Evolve 3D was also kinda fun, but I found how little DNA I had at the time to prevent me from achieving what I wanted, and it was too grindy to get as big as the really big guys. Terra has a block limit (and many blocks count as multiple), and DNA is easier to come by when you play well, so I resonated more strongly with it. It still took me a while after discovering Terra to actually want to play it regularly though.
How did you discover Thrive?
Thrive? Jeez, I thought you were talking about Terra more. “What’s with the questions, man? What, are you involved with this project?” :lmao:
Anyways, I found Thrive via Spore, I think. It was some video about Thrive’s ambitiousness and how it’s spent so long for so little. It was around 0.6.0 that I discovered Thrive. I enjoyed it but it was certainly disappointing at the time. I would occasionally check in just to see it, and was pleasantly surprised when 1.1.0 came out. Recently I checked back and it was in 1.6.0, which was certainly shocking and exciting to see rapid progress. Of course, I imagine there was less content between 1.6 and 1.1 than between 0.6 and 1.1, and in fact, “1.6.0” isn’t necessarily 60% done with the multicellular stage in terms of actual coding labour, and I would assume part of the rapid jump is the difficulty of the roadmap being overestimated, but it’s still exciting! The excitement led me to this forum.
How long have you known/played SPORE?
A few years I suppose. I’m curious why you ask so many questions.
We do like to learn about new users in here
Okay that makes sense. How often do you get new users anyway?
Depends, also some users only show up to report a bug or 2.
I presume you would like to make the Kaner and IJtotrof in Thrive?
Not necessarily. These aren’t "OC"s or whatever. Terra is pretty limited in how creative you can be, and in this case, restraints don’t really breed creativity.
Also those would be macro/aware creatures right?
Oh certainly. I don’t know how you would even make it in an earlier stage.
Well you could make a scuffed aquatic pre evolution of it
Because you are unsure of exact layout of the internal organs and how they interact with each other?
The game they’re talkin bout in here is 3D while multicellular is 2D so it wouldn’t work well
Are Terra and Evolve the only Thrive like games on Roblox?
As Eighth already said, there was also Evolve 3D around…
I wonder if more evolution games will pop up on Roblox.
