Thalassopocalypse

Probably, and if the ocean keeps growing, definitely.

Also, when do we change our species names?

You get two votes that can either be mutations or movement. If you’re a larger organism you get one vote for either one.

The one after the next round

They will appear at random

How dense are the plankton mass? like as in if something laid on it would it be fine or would the mat just break up. Just curious as I am still thinking out my next actions.

I edited my mutations/actions. I hope it isn’t too much.

Mutation 1: Better gut for more efficient nutrient absorption

Mutation 2: A proper circulatory system.

How many fins did you evolve? Are you eventually becoming a tetrapodomorph?

Probably more then that, I was thinking the fins would be more radiodont-like

The mats break very easily and aren’t strong enough

Also I’m pretty surprised nobody got too big yet.

Not a lot of benefits to get large, like you loose an action to do it in the end. (Besides that biggest creatures are the most vulnerable in such fragile environments)

Yup, and doing so, Player species evolve less. For comparison to a Hamster (5.5-34 cm long, species dependent), Opabina from the Cambrian was about 10 cm long, and Tullimonstrum from the Carboniferous varied from 8 to 35 cm long.

Could they still support a springtail or would even just that break them up?

However your population isn’t capped by predation if there isn’t anything big enough to eat you so..

It could support a springtail but literally nothing else

Hm. I will probably spread to them in the times to come then.

With the amount of time I have, it would take a long time to develop a poison that could do this, but it’s not impossible. Not a plan right now.

  1. Parenchyma regeneration (Parenchyma - tissue in vascular plants that serves in a similar way to stem cells in living things. Which contributes to the regeneration of the plant such as there is damage or injury. The goal here is the ability to regenerate and recover more quickly in the event of a storm or tropical storms)
  2. Using the ability of the capsule to float by creating capsules on the fern stems (similar to cocoa)

Do you plan to also become a sea surface plant thing?

Not my plan.
It seems like if I do this, I’ll probably be competing with Cha. Instead I’m going for a type of salty Coniferous swamp like the kind of environmental engineer that exists in Evergreen Swamps to deal with the water there. That should be a powerful advantage when completing this.

So nothing would be left to inhabit the highlands if any are left…

The more common I am, the more resilient I am to disasters, so taking advantage of all the possibilities is the only option I have. If this plan doesn’t go well, I have a backup plan (the way of the seaweed).

Oh so you do plan to become fully aquatic if stuff goes south

Surprised none of the insect players tried to go into the water, there’s plenty of open niches.
