Thalassopocalypse

M1: Adaptation to tolerate salt water
M2: Try to colonize the oceanic moss mats

Mutation 1: Develop a pair of small saber-like incisor teeth develop for eating occasional meat, thus becoming omnivorous, and reducing need for Plankton ingestion.

Mutation 2: Develop a proto-scorpion-like barb on the tail for extra defense, and for more complicated mating and social behaviors.

Are these mutations fine?

The scorpion barb may be pushing it, but other than that youโ€™re fine. Although there isnโ€™t too much diversity within prey items so be careful. (Also you could have just eaten the mangroves)

That is true, but how else am I supposed to eat the Thalassopocalypsozoic version of the Mediterranean Diet without some meat? No seriously. By eating Phytoplankon, my species is getting a lot of Omega-3 fatty acids.

If the roaches learn to swim we might get megafauna within the mangroves againโ€ฆ

For now though not much big stuff roams the waters. I suppose if roaches migrate there, the mats will soon be gone?

The mangroves are too clogged up for the plankton mats. Those are out in the ocean.

So the roaches would first need to adapt for the mangroves?

Well the roaches can eat pretty much any plant matter, not too much eats them (besides the trigonotarbids, although they might be too big for even those soon). Although I think Dumbthriver is going for a more mole-like playstyle so swimming around is probably not the option for them.

I see. I suppose if they wanted they could eat the mangroves to the ground down?

That would take underwater breathing in order to not drown, which wouldnโ€™t be worth it for all the rounds it would take.

Hm, so the ferns can already live fully underwater if they need to?

M1: Bouyancy
M2: Move to the Western Laurentian Belt

Theyโ€™re semi aquatic, like mangrove trees. Only their roots are in the water.

So wouldnโ€™t they just die if their upper parts got eaten?

Pretty much. Or if it got flooded by a storm. Although thereโ€™s nothing big enough to eat too much of them to happen. I still think doom should invest in being a bigger plant.

The thing is if there will be ground to grow those trees by the gameโ€™s endโ€ฆ

Mutations: Larger body size, the ability to breathe both on land and water.

Kind of insane this FG is already 300 posts at just 6 rounds. If this keeps going, itโ€™ll be at some 1.5K posts when itโ€™s finished.

I dont think size will be a problem anytime soon
