THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 1)

Regardless of vr or not, there should be a toggleable 3rd/first person mode

Unless it’s readymade game design fitting thrive, I don’t think it will help.
If it’s expensive hardware, then we don’t have budget for it anyway.

Why is the development feed broken?

Does anyone know a website or source of information dedicated to determine what species lived in each geological period? To be more specific, I’m trying to create a theoretical model environment for Thrive Odyssey.

For me it seems to break only extremely rarely, so I can’t really find out what causes that problem, as I never see the problem when I’m trying to get it.

Well, I was a little busy this week for a strange reason: I learned a little how to work in Godot because I joined a type of Jam and wanted to see how the software works.
And that’s the result I got right now …
progres

I do not know how I did this, but it came out and I wanted to share with you …

Developing a video game rating system…

Functionality

  • -2 Shame! (Barely works; Extremely buggy; Bugs are excruciating; Poor performance; Doesn’t even run on target platform)
  • -1 Bad enough (Doesn’t work out of the box; Fair amount of bugs; Bugs are annoying; Not adapted to target platform)
  • 0 Meh (Works, but needs mods or patches; Variable amount of bugs; Bugs are a nuisance; More or less adapted to its target platform)
  • 1 Good enough (Works out of the box; Couple of bugs; Bugs are a nuisance; Well adapted to its target platform)
  • 2 Excellent! (Works out of the box; Few bugs; Bugs might be a nuisance; Well adapted to its target platform)

Variables to take in:

  • Does it work out of the box?
  • Amount of bugs
  • Bugs intensity
  • Performance/quality on target platform

noice
i like it, well thought out.

I personally don’t like generalised reviews, I like to know what exactly is wrong with the game and what are its strong points, not what neat boxes it fits into.

This is only a draft. And it doesn’t mean I don’t explain what’s wrong with the game. For instance, look at my recent review of Skyrim VR.

blackjacksike’s rating system

Functionality
Rate of 0 (Meh) received for the game.

Reasons:

  • Works out of the box, but relies on mods and community content to remain enjoyable.
  • Amount of bugs: Unknown (Only played 56 minutes)
  • Bugs intensity: N/A
  • Skyrim VR is barely adapted to VR. Sure, the players have hands and can swing their weapons around, yet it really wasn’t thought out for VR. What would you do to open a chest in VR? Use your hands to open it just like in real life. What must you do to open a chest in Skyrim VR? Use the interact button. How would you fight in a medieval VR game? Use your hands to parry, trick your opponent about where you’re going to hit him with your sword, attack in his openings, dodge, etc. How would you fight in Skyrim VR? Telling your opponent to go away with your dagger at a distance (see video). How would you take money in VR? Grab it with your hands and put it in your backpack. How would you take gold coins in Skyrim VR? Press the use button twice. Overall, the game needs more adaptation to VR than just putting VR hands and scaling the same old HUD.

For a VR game coming from a multi-billionaire company in the video game industry, Skyrim VR was surprisingly dull and not made for VR. I expected much more quality from this port and I wonder whether it’s because the developers were lazy or the business side simply didn’t give them time to do their work perfectly.

Video on fighting techniques

I wonder why people aren’t using mechanically powered flashlights as much as they could. They are nice.

Ah yes, the shaking technique. Never fails to amuse me.

I cant wait to be able to terraform planets in thrive using bacteria that turn gasses into different gasses.
Edit: Also bacteria such as cyano-bacteria turn nitrogen into nutrients which can be used by more complex organisms.

Edit 2: Thrive speedrunners gonna be like shin godzilla ngl.

Here is a text generation website from EleutherAI. I could generate texts both in english and in portuguese.

Thrive speedrunners are gonna be like:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpg1U0HZvAs
By the way, would a sorta hive mind superorganism sorta like shin godzilla, which is theorized to cover the entire planet in biomass, and then make the planet one single living thing, be a possibility (In thrive, of course.)? Also, could fungi do somthing like this as well in thrive?

the answer is i hope and also probably.

I tested the AI with a quote from The Witcher.

Wait, it said “he” must think that she is his, yet rambles about not being his possession.

It repeats itself like SHODAN but worse. Plus, it doesn’t even answer my question. I expected something like “Paradox. Paradox. Shutting down… .” Just kidding. At least, the grammar and syntax make sense.

Where does that paradox stereotype come from, by the way?

I just tried Portuguese, and I have to say that it didn’t really blow me away.

It even knows how to write stories!

If the last sentence isn’t complete, just click on “Send result as prompt”.

Gangster Story (Warning: Contains offensive language)

It seems like these AIs really grab onto their given bias.

Someone is very convinced of something about you, @hhyyrylainen.
