THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 1)

I’m incredibly dumb and have both, and can confirm that 7-zip is better

What’s better about 7zip over winrar for the average user just wondering?

It’s actually free, doesn’t technically legally require you to purchase it after the trial period. The second huge point is that it supports the .7z format which compresses much better than the rar format.

I really have no idea what WinRAR and 7zip are, I always thought that WinRAR was one of those useless old programs that Microsoft forgets to update, and I still think that

@hhyyrylainen, given that you are on Linux, do you play SteamVR games sometimes? How good is it?

Also, can we share Odysee videos here like it was from YouTube?

I don’t have any VR devices currently, though I’ve heard that it is starting to be problem free. We as long as you have Valve’s hardware, the other vendors don’t seem to care about Linux so they are much more of a risk of being broken.

Imagine playing Thrive in VR - Seeing and hearing like your creature (don’t ask what happens when you are plant)

I can’t wait for Valve’s next headset to come out. Given that there was a 2 years gap between the Valve Index’s release and the Steam Deck’s release, my prediction indicates that the Valve Deckard will be released next year.

I’ve also heard rumors about the Galea project and it seems that it’s starting to distribute their Varjo headset to Beta developers.

Having BCI (Brain Computer Interface) would useful to control an organism with multiple arms or pseudopodes.

Can the steam deck even run vr, it feel like it be too weak for that?

Unless i am misunderstanding what the valve deckard is?

The Valve Deckard is a secret project that is speculated to be a new headset. Sadly it’s Bradley made a ton of videos about the leaks of that project.

Hopefully I set this up right, as it is my first poll. I am sure this exact poll has been done before, but I am curious to the answer and it seems as though it is somewhat relevant to the current conversation.

I’m doing an alternate timeline where Europa and Callisto collided, went into the habitable zone and became a habitable planet, and I’m out of ideas. suggestions?

How does that orbit affect earth?

No, but it affects the orbit of several asteroids that end up crashing to Earth, but… It would be interesting if the orbit of Mars affected, making it slightly less inhospitable.

Subnauticas soundtracks work pretty nicely with thrive i think.

Whenever i play i just mute the normal music and listen to that instead(i still like the normal music i just like subnauticas more)

I do that too, but I put Vivaldi in everything I play.
Sometimes I also put “A sea called Solaris” when I play spaceengine and enjoy my existential crisis

I find that hilarious and genius

Im considering buying a bundle which includes Space Engine and Universe Sandbox. I would get both of them for 20% cheaper than it would be for both of them seperatly. I also have wanted universe sandbox for a while. I dont know much about Space engine however. I just want to ask if it would be worth it spending the ~10€ extra to get Space engine aswell instead of just Universe Sandbox.

Spaceengine is a 1:1 scale universe simulator, that is LITERALLY THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. You can explore habitable planets, watch the sunset from a hyper giant star, or a more “Realistic” exploration with various futuristic ships that you can control. Think of Cosmos, but you are Carl/Neil in the ship of the imagination. You can also purchase a previous version from the spaceengine website, but the current one is much better.

I found this by looking at the development forums.
