Speaking of Apple…

Aside from that, it’s Steam’s 20th anniversary!

Can’t you feel the pride inside the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia?

Wow, so Apple made the just 1000$ phone a USB 2 device (and you need to pay much more for the higher end model to get USB 3). That has to be the biggest joke ever. Only bigger joke is if someone actually buys that phone.

previous iphones must have been a lower USB level

They worked just fine.

Lol…

Lmao even…

Thankful that I moved away from Unity and switched to godot.

Yes, join us in the promised land of Godot and open source.

We have some cookies, soo u cant resist the call of joining us

I would have asked ā€œwhy not switch to unity?ā€, but seeing that basically everybody these days is doing something terrible (including Unity), i don’t know if i wanna ask that question…
This is why i don’t trust anybody not to become controversial. Nobody is safe. Not even me.

That’s why open source is the only option. Even if something terrible happens, you can keep using a previous Godot version. And I’m 100% certain that a fork will happen where people who want existing Godot licensing to continue will keep working on a separate version of the engine.

Also I’m very glad that we didn’t respond positively to any of the times people asked why not switch to Unity.

Yea i figured.
Again, i trust nobody because of all the crap that everybody has been doing.
I frequently joke about how all this controversy so fast will lead to a nuclear war, but i actually start to fear that could happen…

I was wondering, what are your opinions regarding piracy?

and no devs I would never pirate thrive, mainly because the thrive installer is free, and thanks for that too

ok as long as it’s not stealing money from a small team or a single person, good if the devs encourage pirating it

As a person making purely non-physical work products, I find piracy extremely problematic. The average person doesn’t seem to have very strong moral compass based on the fact that piracy of software is so common. And I’m not swayed by the argument that people can’t afford all the games they want to play. There are a ton of games that you can play for free. Games are anyway a non-essential good. For other software product categories there are a ton of free software out there.

here is an idea: make thrive free in steam, but simulate so many generations and planets in the game that it becomes less than 1 fps for most computers, and sell an external gpu optimised for auto evo that can be plugged to the computers

Except thrive is open source so that is impossible

That would kinda go against the idea of making it free in the first place. Thrive has been free on purpose, so that people can enjoy it without a paywall, but making the game unplayable without paying completely ruins that idea

50gens does have a point though: Thrive is also best enjoyed with high detail.

I still agree that Thrive should be free.

part of 50gens’ idea was a good one though, a GPU specialized for auto-evo would make thrive more enjoyable and as long as you didn’t have to buy it to play thrive at higher than 1fps then its sales would probably be every thrive player who makes enough money to buy it

Except it would end up as a net loss, you need to pay in order to produce the GPU and the majority of people won’t buy it because they don’t have any means to actually install it.
