THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

there are people who have dedicated COD computers, there are definitely gonna be people with either custom motherboards or dedicated thrive PCs when thrive gets popular

The point of Thrive, though, is to not be like a cringe pay-to-win mobile game.

and how is faster auto evo gonna make you win faster easily? if it would make p2w a thing in thrive something could be made to have the autoevo be done by the fastest computer on the server, in which case the host could have a server rack full of the autoevo GPUs(only necessary for a large server) to speed up everyone’s autoevo by a lot

if playing the game to completion takes a long amount of time to do so and the game offers a way to speed the process then it is pay to win.

I’m not sure pay to win applies in this case. I’ve seen the term time-gating being used to describe mobile games that need you to wait a certain amount of real time before something happens. And of course all of those games have a way to bypass that mandatory waiting by paying a bit of real money.

Since hhyyrylainen is currently the only (and I think the first?) paid employee of RG, who do you think would be the most likely to become the second part/full-time employee from the current Dev team?

It’s much more likely that the next employee is part-time. So that complicates things a lot because I don’t know who is available to do part-time work as such a person either needs to be in university or have another part-time job lined up.

how do i do the thing with the text in the … icon

The paying only decreases the loading times of the game. And it is not a pre-designed feature for Thrive to have long wait times so that the player pays to lessen loading times, but instead simply due to hardware limitations.

Would a game with ultra-realistic graphics that crashes most computers and forces you to buy a better processer be pay-to-win?

a little bit of the forum game i’m working on:

sure then, though i’m planning on letting other people help DM it if they want to as long as i trust them to do it right, for example keeping track of atmospheric composition, crust composition, and ocean composition. map making and modifying. keeping track of how each species impacts the environment and vice versa. but i will be the one doing the things like keeping track of mutations, population, senses, and ascension perks. also this game is probably gonna have to be one where the players all get their own messages telling them how their species is doing eventually

Do you mean[1]

If that’s the case, here’s how you do it:

  1. Write your text
  2. Add ^[] wherever you want. Example: Write your text^[]
  3. Put the text that you want to[2] into the square brackets. Example: Put the text that you want to^[be displayed this way] into the square brackets.
  4. done

  1. this? ↩︎

  2. be displayed this way ↩︎
