Tardigrades used to be some of the larger creatures in their ecosystem (I think they were like, the size of your hand, but back then that was macrofauna-esque). It’s not unreasonable assuming microbial includes anything kinda small. Edit: second example: smallest insect, likely smallest thing with a brain, little wasp, wasps are insects, proto insects also got to about the size of your hand. And third example: Todays birds are descendants of dinosaurs, not necessarily the largest, but decently sized ones, and they had the potential to be huge if the ecosystem wasn’t full of megafauna
