Why not use robots or biological weapons? Or are the combine not-so-advanced afterall?

I’ve been thinking about something for a while.
A whole bunch of “2d microbe/creature evolution games” in the modern times are about designing the most powerful organism in whatever sort of environment that evolution game is set on. You evolve various things on your creature, like speed upgrades or weapons. And now that I think about it, aren’t “evolution games” of these kind essentially shipbuilding games but using a lifeform evolution setting instead of a spaceship setting?
Because they enslave every species they encounter to make them part of their military strength. As for the reason of their expansion, it’s probably like the Romans. They want to dominate all life.
The Combine mixes organisms with machines. For instance, they replaced the Hunter’s eyes with cameras that most likely have night vision and added deadly shooting darts to their arsenal.

Wouldn’t this result in mass guerilla warfare against them on the occupied worlds?
The Combine probably wiped out a big part of mankind before relocating the survivors of North America to Eastern Europe. Also, Dr. Breen who is partly responsible for this whole situation convinced the UN to surrender mankind. Of course, there are rebel groups scattered across Europe.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the Combine established a suppression field that makes it impossible for human embryos to form.
Isn’t it a pretty big plot device that the combine haven’t invented local teleportation yet?
The deduction is they left humanity alive of that, because they somehow knew humanity either had invented it or could invent it for them. In half-life 2 a ‘working’ teleporter exists in Eli’s lab, another is supposed to exist at black mesa east, and a prototype one made by the combine is at the end of nova prospekt.
Local teleportation also appears in hl1:opposing force, which is debatably canon;
There’s also portal, which is technically canon to the half-life universe via the borealis (Teleporting boat).

IIRC it’s an unfinished prototype, probably made by augmented humans, in the plot it takes 2 weeks for freeman and alyx to get through it, which would be unacceptably slow for an army the size of the combine, compare to the one eli has which teleports alyx near instantly; If they managed to finish it I suspect humanity is cooked. It’s been a few years since I played last, I might be misremembering.

Sort of. Judith Mossman was a spy and she most likely reported her findings about Eli’s teleporter to the Combine.

Edit - that almost right - he did evolve only one type of photoshyntatic cell - a poor 1 cell size of thyroid that somehow not exsiat in my biome that its the snow one.
I have dying from hunger in front of my friends because was nothing at all to make glucose (0.09).
But we have fun and make my spread of the game far now
You could say Ricochet because it has no players, yet the gameplay might not be that terrible. However, Half-Life: Source is considered a pretty bad game by most people. People expected it to be a Source remake of Half-Life and it wasn’t. It’s also very buggy now because of the 2013 version of the Source engine. Nonetheless, I think that if people expected it to be an experiment to see if it’s possible to port Goldsrc content to Source, which it is, people might not have seen it in such a bad light.
