THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

That’s why this genre is starting to be replaced by regression and dungeon crawlers or VR which are more or less the same thing just on a different platform.

But they can last (all genres without exception) as long as the story, dialogue and interaction between the writer and the reader are done correctly and excellently. - And that’s exactly the problem with running a story in these genres because that’s where the money comes from and striking while the iron is hot, destroying these trends today.

Think about what happened to superhero movies over the years… or Western movies - the same trend as is happening there. This is true for almost all subgenres (genres in general are too spread out to go away anytime soon)

This is my opinion at least on the subject. I can take inspiration from other places but it doesn’t have to take into account going for a cliché (which is impossible, because anything can be considered such  ) or something that has been done and retold too many times. For this I combine several different gunners (think about the PH world for example in my experience)

you mean genres, right? (also bet this will appear in out-of-context one day lol)

I wonder if anyone here remembers watching dot hack sign, which was probably the first isekai anime.

I did not get to watch when it initially came out over twenty years ago, since I didn’t have access to foreign tv channels, and the internet was still in its infancy. I may have seen a clip of it somewhere else as a kid, since somehow, I vague remember the tune of the theme song. I found it and watched it two years ago on YouTube, and it became one of my favorite anime.

Hilariously enough, I don’t think I would have liked it as a kid since it is probably one of the slowest anime you will ever see, but who knows? I still like watching clouds from airplanes after all these years.

Isekai seem to be in a dark age at the present, but who knows what will the future bring…

I loved one of the dot hack games when I was a kid, it was really cool to see a fake MMO

How good of an impression did the false mmo leave? Was it anyhow believable?

While I did not play the dot hack games, watching a playthrough of the first four dot hack games made it feel like you were in an online MMO similar to WoW (World of Warcraft).

@Evolution4Weak, which dot hack game was your favorite? I have only seen dot hack infection, dot hack mutation, dot hack outbreak, and dot hack quarantine.

I sadly never got the chance to play any of those…

Good thing there are playthroughs on YouTube!

I can guess the games themselves are no longer of the playable kin?

If you still have a PS1, and with the games in their original disc format definitely out there on the selling market somewhere, it is possible to play them. However, the games are very expensive on the market. Like seriously, dot hack quarantine is the most expensive PS1 game on the resell market; no one has enough money for quarantine.

Well I don’t have a PS1 so I don’t need to worry about that.

It’s kind of crazy how stereotypical megacorporations - ones with private armies and sway over entire nations - are portrayed as ‘futuristic’ and ‘cyberpunk’ when the only real examples of them are both centuries old.

I suppose boat guys in powdered wigs just aren’t as glamorous.

V.O.C. and East India Company for the win!

Yes…
They have play Thrive and Spore to make that video

By that you mean they time travelled to the future and made that video basing off the Thrive full release?

I did not expect this today! History is always interesting!

Because cyberpunk started with the predictions that Japan would become an economic superpower in the future, which is also why cyberpunk settings usually have Japanese influences.
