seeing a random youtube recommendation telling me the deckard was out was um. not a fully lucid-seeming moment. Congrats. Iโll never get that sort of vr device (and honestly vr is just a lot of money for so few games), but Iโm very happy valve is producing more hardware and i hope it sells well.

I think the metaverse saved vr. They tried, they really tried to make a bubble. It went absolutely belgiuming nowhere. The only reason we remember the metaverse is because facebook changed itโs stupid name. I suspect people will not trust vr in the same radical way people trust AI, or people trusted NFTs or the metaverse, because they saw people wasting their time on the metaverse! No one every invested billions in AI and then lost it all, simply because no oneโs invested billions in AI.
I think in the best future, one we almost certainly wonโt get, vr will go the way of the dotcom bubble. no one invests in your project because it says .com, but they still expect to see a website, trust in ecommerce, etc. The dotcom bubble popped, but it still succeeded at every promise made, just not in tame, and not with such idiotic products. meta wonโt make a metaverse, but gaming, corporate meetings,creative work, user interface design, whatever, could benefit.
will all that happen? likely no. likely it will be a niche subset of gaming and UI, but with more healthy competition to hopefully shoot down the monopolies, especially those in consoles.

Looks like it was an update to some Discourse CSS classes for people with somehow now a โfirst full-nameโ and no โusernameโ listed in their posts. So I adjusted the badge rules and now they should appear for both cases (as some users still do have a โusernameโ field).
Wasnโt that a different time when you were promised the title? This time you were right but I donโt remember anyone saying that if the Deckard was announced this week you would have won.
