The Scavengers are ape-like tribal animals that live in societies comparable to early humans. I’m not sure exactly what they could be but they have fur so they might be mammalians.

Speaking of slavery, they were created as servants/slaves to the ancients to work on farms (possibly/implied). They also don’t have the bird features so they probably aren’t related.

It seems to take place in the remnant of one big experiment place of sorts that also has many mysteries we don’t know what purpose they served

Like a seedworld with extra parts
