(IDK if the image formatted correctly)
I joined the patch at 3.4B Y and almost immediately 2 species’ population collapsed

I recall it’s been realised some days ago that the algorithm for calculating player species impact on the biota has some broken parts, causing it to become rather lethal when interacting with ecosystems.
Is it an outsized impact? If an equivalent AI species moved to the patch, I think it should cause as much damage to the existing ecosystem.
The only one benefit the player has that even without capturing any miches, the player is not considered extinct (as this would be extremely hard to play the game like this so the player population determines when they go extinct, whereas other species disappear as soon as they lose all the miches they held).
So yeah, not really a bug but a tuning problem in auto-evo. I’m not our auto-evo expert so I can’t really do anything to improve this situation.
That being said it would probably be of use once more important matters are settled to revisit this aspect of “invasive species” eradicating patch ecosystems.
