Also, do neko girls have human ears as well? If so, is it because their cat ears are purely cosmetic?
if they do have human ears as well, there are cats with no ears because of them. if they don’t, cats with human ears, believe whichever one disturbs you less
This implies that if someone mutilates the ears of enough cats then there will be an high chance of a neko girl being born with mutilated ears.

Also, having ears atop a human head would require some major changes in it’s structure for those ears to even fullfil their basic function of making hearing easier.
