Thrive-topia (April Fools Other Creativity)

And have you ever wondered what would happen if the obscure became the almighty…?

You wake up into a much more perfect world than the one you’ve known before: An Utopia!
Having been a Thrive Fan for who knows how long now, you find the following prospect exciting:
The year is 0 TE (Thrive Era), known as 2050 CE in the old system.
It seems like that the wildest dreams a Thrive player could ever imagine about their beloved game came true. Including, but not being limited to, they are the following:

  • Thrive united the world under a single banner.
  • Thrive ended world hunger.
  • Thrive solved aging and all diseases/illnesses.
  • Thrive made HDI reach 1 worldwide.
  • Thrive made democracy worldwide full and pure.

…and so on and so forth.
You go outside, beyond the walls of your beautiful home. Here, you find more people, out of which exactly 0 have anything negative to say about The New Thrive World Order. In fact, it’s quite the opposite - everyone praises Thrive and Revolutionary Games from time to time.
Speaking of Revolutionary Games, this entity has evolved, and yet it remains true to it’s original purposes. Now acting as the world’s government under the name of “RG Council”, which functions in a large building known as:

THRIVE DEVELOPMENT FORUM

It’s said however that one person is getting elected to the top, head-of-the-state position every time ever since Thrive took over Earth.

Their name is “Hhyyrylainen”.

It’s said this man was in the highest position of both Revolutionary Games and Thrive at the time of the takeover. Despite all the odds, they managed to become most likely the most likable human in the world’s history.
Looking towards the center of your town (you are not sure wherever it is a village or a city) you see a strange place: It has many buildings that have Greek and/or Roman architectural elements. They all are also cyan. When you walk up to one of these, you see three words written above the entrance leading inside a building:

THRIVE COMMUNITY FORUM

Inside the forum you find lots of people. After a few dozen minutes you get the full picture of what this forum is for: For one, it is the ultimate form of community bonding in this Thrive-topia, and For the second it allows people to talk about Thrive with a community spanning the globe. Logging into the virtual side of the forum, you see that there are billions of accounts here, all of which seem to belong to real people, not being bots or alternative accounts. Categories pile in the thousands, who even knows how many threads are being replied to each second, and yet despite all that the forum stays stable, nowhere close to crashing.
Speaking of Thrive, when you were getting there you saw a fountain with a “statue” atop made of three somewhat-separate parts. When you now went to it, you saw that the “statue” is the Thrive logo, and the inscription below it reads:

IN OUR GRACE FOR THE WORK OF REVOLUTIONARY GAMES DEVELOPERS,

WHOM HAVE KNITTED THRIVE, THE GAME TO SAVE OUR GLORIOUS WORLD,

BY PUTTING IT ON THE PATH TOWARDS AN ETERNAL UTOPIA,

WE PUT THIS FOUNTAIN RIGHT IN THE HEART OF (Town’s Name).

You go back to your home and boot up your computer. You notice that it has the Thrive logo on it, and it runs on “Thrive-Linux” OS. You find the layout of the computer very nice, with all it’s functions being the apex of computer engineering surely. One of the pre-installed programs of the computer is simply titled “Thrive 8.0.0”.
You very soon realize that this isn’t Thrive as you knew it before you woke up to this reality. No. This is seemingly Thrive from a thousand years into the future put just 25 years forward instead. The quality of the product seems higher than what anyone could have ever expected from what started as a hoax just some 40 years ago, followed up by what one could safely assume was a project doomed for death.
You manage to get to the end of The Microbe Stage before saving the game and closing your computer. You start thinking about how barely anybody knew of the game just some quarter of a century ago, and now not only does everyone know what this product is, but the product became a saving grace to the world.
As The Sun slowly moves towards the west, you realize that they is much more than just the game, the forum or the achievements Thrive accomplished in this Utopia. You find movies about Thrive. Comics about Thrive. Music about Thrive. No. You realize all and any branches of media humanity has discovered and used to this point have by now produced at least a couple of pieces about “The game to save us all”.
What is there to be discovered by you the following day? Or the day after that? Surely, everything will have even just a pinch of Thrive within. It is up to you to decide what do you want to discover here - Anything you want!

I tried posting it at midnight of the GMT timezone, which is probably the cause of this discrepency.

It came from The Moon!

It has been one year since you woke up into this heaven of the Thrive-topia, with the year now being 1 TE (also known by some nostalgic folk as 2051 CE). With the great effectiveness of the RG’s system, much technological progress has been made, allowing for the large-scale colonization of The Moon, and the beginnings of a global terraformation for Mars, the two flagship projects of Hhyyrylainen’s that are already bearing fruit. The servers of the Thrive Community Forum were beginning to get overwhelmed after a good few trillions posts had been made on them but soon enough this issue would be solved, in a matter of mere hours. At the same time the Thrive Development Forum continues to be the most transparent government this world has ever seen, keeping true to it’s open-source nature.

It must be said that with how much utopian (or thriveropian?) the world has become, the course of life seems much slower - perhaps the erasure of attention leeching produce and the empathization of more healthy ways of living and speaking made the deciding difference here? Besides that, with the world simultaneously becoming surprisingly much calmer despite the human species racing faster across development than anytime prior, there is not much to be said about this year in terms of the happenings here on Earth. Beyond however… Some things got rather interesting

During the many surveys sent out by the RG on The Moon to check for favourable locations to establish new human settlements on the silver globe, an unusual anomaly was detected exposed at the surface of a vast lunar mare, as if it ended up here not too long ago. The object in question appeared to be some kind of a duck, though bizarrely enough a cartoon one, about as large as one would expect a duck to be in real life. Following the extraction of the anomaly to a lunar base, it was decided the peculiar finding would be sent to a lab on the planet for further study. We and you did not known it back that autumn, but this seems to have been the moment humanity set itself up for an unplanned derailment from the long-term plans it has formed under the new regime.

Quickly after arrival on Earth two important discoveries were made about the duck object - that it is, somehow, still alive, and that it appears to be fitted with some advanced technology, somehow still unknown to our civilization yet. Over the rest of autumn attempts were made on trying to bring the brain activity of the cartoon creature back from it’s contemporary blank state, though nothing seemed to work. Then, suddenly, it woke up with no assistance during Christmas. Along with the discovery of the object, this has sent quite the few shockwaves across the society, with you also trying to do some research into the probably alien being, but alas the transparency of RG has hit it’s limits. Outrage grew when people realized that in a state so open something closed was still to be found, especially something this important and revolutionary to the story of humankind.

As winter grew to a close the sparks of the closure to the openess of that compartment where they must have been studying the duck, you decided to play one day, like more or less always - for the ultimate government deserves some recognition for it’s game that shaped the world around you, does it not? Anyhow, you decide to play the multicellular stage for a bit, already knowing the main strategies of this once-underdeveloped sector of the game. Specialization is the key to success here, with many editor sessions dedicated entirely to modifying the cells into superior forms that will bring them a bright future. At 20 cells’ size, the “creature” is ready to move on - not to the macroscopic stage quite yet though. Instead it enters an intermediate sub-stage that creates a transition much smoother than what used to be here before, with cells slowly but surely morphing into meta-blobs over it’s duration, alongside the development of various organs from mere clumps of cells if not singular ones at the transformation’s dawn. This took a few hours and after saving and closing Thrive 8.5.2.2 you decide to sleep for the night. What came tomorrow would keep you on your legs during the next one however.

In late March, just a day or two after the equinox, the curtains on the project of research on the lunar anomaly were finally lifted, but not by the RG themselves - The object did it. Or should it rather be said, objects now, as from a single duck six more seem to have emerged. Their message to humanity was simple - it was to watch out for a spine-chilling eclipse about to happen. RG tried to search through the lab from where the herd sent it’s message from, but strangely enough, after getting inside nothing was to be found, it is like as if the laboratory was returned to it’s condition from before receiving the duck to study. In those last days of March mass panic began spreading, first in the background and at the back of people’s minds, and then, as April approached, RG would finally explain what it knew about the situation - or rather what it knew not. It turns out the lab has been strangely quiet since the awakening of the object, which seems to suggest that it’s already been hijacked a long time ago.

On the April Fools’ day people would be scared the most they have been since the beginning of Thrivetopia, having some kind of a feeling that an impending doom is approaching. And right they were - for all across the world would very soon turn on the alarm sirens, and from them, or perhaps via the migranes they caused with their loudness, could be heard a voice strange, as if made to be funny, and yet also… dead.

YOU KNOW NOT OF THE LONGING IN THE REALM OF THE DEAD,

THE SLAIN FORERUNNER OF YOURS SHALL RISE ONCE AGAIN,

UNDER NEW ARMS, WINGS AND LEADERS,

THIS ECLIPSE THAT FREES THE ELYSIUM BEGINS!

As the screech of whatever was this on the other side ended, people begun looking around, especially at the sun that they thought would be eclipsed. And yet… nothing seemed to be happening to the eye of fire looking over man since his humble beginnings. Behind The Moon however, a corona of red that then spread purple gloom appeared, taking attention to this other partner of ours. The brightness behind that space rock only grew - what was happening to those who have already moved there?

The source of the light seemed to have begun shifting to the side, about to reveal itself from behind the second settled body. But just as about it was to be seen in it’s full glory, seven smaller objects, red orbs surrounded by a large purple aura, were seen instead, no dimmer than before however. Their trajectories were changing, with seemingly each heading for each of the continents. Moving at a speed no human spacecraft has reached before, minutes were left until “impact”. People begun scattering around in terror, trying to be close to what they love the most in their last moments…

When these orbs “hit” however they did not impact the surface - instead they spread through the atmosphere, turning it dimmer and more violet than before. Before long, it was known what was meant by “Elysium” in the speech all heard - from their graves the dead rose, though not in the form one would imagine, instead reawakening as strange beings, sometimes with bizarre anatomies, that could seem cute at first, but beneath it all… was the flesh of one who has already gone. They begun spreading far and wide, using the organics around them to create more of themselves.

With this challenge at hand, RG and Humanity has to adapt quick, perhaps more than it did during the rise of Thrive as the world’s pinnacle. Will we survive?
