This is very much a stellaris lore thing and I don’t know if it fits with Thive or not.

The Zaxxoid Conciousness is a hive mind of giant insects, about 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall, that evolved on an oxygen rich jungle tropical world. After draining their home world of most life and natural resources, they set off to find new life to consume.
The Zaxxoid spread through the galaxy at an extreme rate and built massive fleets equally as fast and house the finest of military technologies and engineering. Forming a vast empire in only a few years of their existence they came into quick contact with another space-faring empire. Seeing new prey the Zaxxoid immediately invaded. Fleets so large that could be mistaken for nebula if observed from a planets surface began to pour into this small empire. Throwing everything they had at the Zaxxoid, their fleets were decimated in the first battle, and only managing to destroy a corettes, it was completely defenseless as the Zaxxoid infested their planets and consumed its citizens. The same fate awaits the rest of the galaxy, no empire, and no federation or make-shift alliance could ever hope to stop the Zaxxoid war machine, and its eternal hunger.

Well here goes my creature

Creature details

Name: Insectosaur (i’m bad at naming things)
Diet: Omnivorous
Details: 8 Feet 11 inches tall they Are a Bipedal Saurian creature covered with a thick exoskeleton
they have 2 Reptilian eyes on either side of their head and the bottom of their jaw has two mandibles 3 claw appendages are found on the ends of their tail they have clear razor sharp wings which are commonly folded and concealed behind the back they also have two smaller pairs of arms jutting out from their chest. their exoskeleton is black with Bright red along the edges and underneath the armor their entire body is a scaled red

they have limited flight and often get tired when flying for more than 20 seconds they posses the ability to spit a Highly Corrosive acid from their mouth. The Two smaller chest arms were evolved when the creatures used to walk on all fours and was used to collect food and bring to the mouth before they stood upright

the creatures used to be dominant aquatic predators before making the shift to land nearly all of the aquatic species died out after some crawled onto land because of the large amount of predators

Interesting fact: the insectosaur has two sets of bones one internal skeleton and one exoskeleton that combined with the scales beneath the exoskeleton mean that they once had no exoskeleton and evolved it to deal with some predators.

Funfact: the name So’lahtar translates to “TerrorWing” in the insectosaurian language. the beast is an adept flyer capable of sustaining flight for 5 days straight they tend to dwell in the mountains in large nests on cliffs Claw mark and bones surround their territory to let other creatures know

the Kre’Bas is a 16 Feet tall arachnid With two 22 inch pincer claws their entire evolutionary lifeline is based on hunting the Insectosaurs First they gained the Leg height to grab Them out of trees then they developed Teeth strong enought to Break Insectosaur exoskeletons they eventually gained an immunity to their acid spit The only thing they havent evolved to counter is the flight abilities of the insectosaur but some spotted variants with two gas sacks for flight (which however is very slow and primitive) they are also coated in a heavy exoskeleton. Funfact: Kre’bas are the reason the insectosaurs invented guns.

other creatures on the planet include The T’Seab A reptilian-mammalesque creature that they ride into battle And mount on occasionally the Aerial Se’seer A Creature resembling a manta ray with A face which can only be described as looking like a sarlacc and the Zerup Which are the faithful pets of the insectosaurs with a Appearance resembling a cross between an earth wasp a mantis and a dragon which are the size of a cat

Sapient Species : Flome

Planet of Origin : Unknown, they move from place to place

Biological Description

The Flome are a race of hegemonic reptilian warlords not content with subjugating races they enslave, but are rather actively committed to doing the most twisted things imaginable to them. Having killed billions, with numerous accounts of mass genocide, they’re considered as scientists because of their amoral pursuit of technological advancement.

Biological Description :

The Flome are reptilian in appearance, with crocodilian and insectoidal features. The entirety of their body is yellow colored, adorned with black patterns along the legs, arms, neck, and chest. The head is very similar to a snakes, containing a haphazardly aligned mouth akin to that of a leatherback turtle. Have a forked tongue that is used to smell. Are around 6 to 7 feet tall, and are a six limbed species.

Each Flome is a genetically droned clone of sorts, and aren’t entirely sentient.

Though still gifted with emotions, they were unusual and obscure, which caused problems. It produced their complete lack of understanding the concept of ethics, morals, or respect of life. Their disregard for the rights of others often earned the ire of many races, who did their best to hide themselves from the Flomes communications.

I’ve been changing many things about them, because I feel like they don’t quite fit into the TU yet. The base idea is that they’re reptilian warlords with no regard for the rights of others, and i’ve been adding onto that.

Species: Cubraca [Worker] (Cue-bra-ca/Coo-bra-ca)

Niche: Tunnel dwellers

Natural Habitats: Caves, Canyons

Biology and Physiology:

Cubraca are a synapsid like species, which have developed a proto-fur/quills, that help them communicate through a cave at a long distance. By doing that, they vibrate their quills together, forming an either rustling or clacking sound pattern. These patterns can vary from very fast,short,long or even slow rhythms. It is highly theorized, that these sounds are similar to that of a Morse code, but much more distinct and complicated.
The Cubraca have two pinna and three noses, which give them a great perception for navigating through the caves. Due to the dim light (which comes from bioluminescent lifeforms) they have almost no eyesight. Their fleshy tubes on both sides of the neck and face, are used for regulating the pressure in deeper parts of caves. At the end of the tail is a razor sharp appendage, which hinders a victim from escape.

The average lifespan of a Worker lies between 45 and 50 years and a height of 3.50m.
All workers are females.

Diet: Due to the evolution of their teeth, Cubraca are carnivores. Although they prefer fresh meat, carcasses can also be on their menu, exspecially when food supply becomes low.


Cubracas are mostly nocturnal creatures and avoid the sun light as best as possible, due to their pale skin. The workers mostly come out at night, but sightings of them have also occur at dawn and dusk.

Few workers always check at the entrance of their cave for any possible intruder. The rest strives around in groups or alone, to hunt for their colony.
Cubracas are very territorial and will defend their nest from any kind of life form, that is not the size of a small critter. If two of their same kind, but from a different colony, were about to cross paths, they would first hiss at each, to signalize their warnings, if any one of them would dare to attack the other one. Otherwise a ruthless battle might start, with only one survivor of the patrolling group.

Cubracas also tend to be Cannibalistic, as they will eat their dead companions and heavily injured ones.
Sick Cubracas will be outcast from their colony, to die outside in the wilds.

Species: Cubraca [Queen]

Niche: Tunnel dwellers

Natural Habitats: Caves, Canyons

Biology and Physiology: Unlike the Workers, the Queens body shape is very slender, like that of a snake.

With this body, they can maneuver more freely through tight passages in caves, should a situation emerge, where the cave gets to flooded during rainy seasons or a different colony tries to attack the other one. Another difference the Queens have is, that they have two more smaller eyes on each side of the face. With these eyes, their field of vision is a bit more wider, allowing them to see in different kind of directions.
Another special feature only the Queens can perform,
is to mimic certain voices and sentences from other creatures. It is highly theorized, that the Queens try to lure lost creatures deeper into caves with that ability.
The Queens length can reach a size of 9 - 11 meters and a width of 2-3 m. They can reach a lifespan of almost 120 years.

A Cubraca queen lays about 4 to 7 eggs per day, but sometimes they decide, how much they will lay and when the workers/guardians shall hatch.
With that technique, the Queens stabilize their colony, to prevent overpopulation.

Unlike the Workers, who prefer any kind of meat, the Queens are fed a very special one. This meat is more nutritious and rich of fatty acids, like the royal honey from bees. With that kind of meat, the Queens won´t starve to death, while performing their exhausting act of laying eggs all the day. They will even eat their own eggs, if these are to weak to survive.


Although Cubraca queens are less aggressive than the worker or guardians, they can still act hostile towards intruders. The Queens rarely leave their territory, unless it got destroyed or they were not impregnated yet by a King. Otherwise they lay in their special chamber all the day and keep the Worker and guardian population at a stable level.

Species: Cubraca [King]

Niche: Lone Predator

Natural Habitats: Grasslands, Deserts, and any kind of steppe.


Biology and Physiology:

Cubraca Kings are the biggest kind in their line, reaching an height of 11 to 12 m in total. Their massive weight is being held by their 6 limbs, two hind legs and four forelegs.

Because of their height, Cubraca Kings will be thrown out of their colony, once they reach adolescent. Their fleshy tubes become useless outside the cave and will start to decompose and fall off.

This is also the reason, why they have a darker skin tone and slightly more fur, than their relative cave inhabitants. The hook blade at the end of their tail even stops a victim from escaping.

Although the Kings are completely blind, there is still a low chance, that some of them develop eyes in their fetal station.

They also have more ears to scan their environment further, checking for prey and obstacles along on the way.

What kind of age a King can reach, couldn’t be found out yet. Many Scientists believe, that their lifespan stands between 90 to 135 years.

Diet: The Kings are carnivore as well, but prefer more bigger prey, to keep their weight in a constant flow.


Because of their rare appearance, the behavior of these giant synapsid is still not fully analyzed yet. Only a view records from the U’rl mention an encounter with these Titans to be extremely aggressive. However, these records were mostly listed, when an expedition encountered a starving King, rather a well nourished one.

Cubraca Kings also try to avoid each other outside mating season, but when a battle is about to happen, the outcome will always be a fight to death.


The mating season of Queens and Kings starts every 10 years. If two of these synapsid meet each other, the male will use his colorful appendages on the cheek and shakes them, which creates a rattling sound to impress the female. If another competitor joins the ritual, the male will try his best and fend the other king away, if not killing him even.

Is the impression successful, then the female will curl around the males body to become pregnant.

Thanks, yes it did indeed took me a while to write this all down. Really had thought about this species a lot.
Took me literally 3 days to complete this information about my Cubraca race.
But in the end, i´m very proud and relieved, how this part turned out :3

Location: Middle Tenebrarum

Species: Orchiatres (Orchi-a-tres)

Niche: Forest dweller

Natural Habitats: Forests, Jungle

Biology and Physiology:

The Orchiatres are small predators, who live in the forests/jungles of Duan. They have 8 limbs, 4 fore legs and 4 hind legs, which are used for outrunning the prey and climbing on trees. The name was given by it, due to it´s orchid shaped head, altough it imitates a far different flower on Duan - a Cematur abellis. The rest of the body is covered with scales, that imitate a tree bark, while the legs are covered with fake leaves.

Their original head is covered by the soft,blue skin. When the skin opens up, it reveals two mouths with one nose on each side and four eyes. The whiskers at the tip of the petal skin are used for recognizing temperature and touch.

The Orchiatres can reach an height of almost 1,20m and a width of 50cm to 80cm. The lifespan of an Orchiatres differs from 25 to 30, if they are kept in captivity.

When the skin opens up


Diet: While Orchiatres feed from small critters, carcasses are also listed on their menu.


Orchiatres are mostly nocturnal creatures, since they tend to spend most of their time hiding on a tree stump or any kind of tree. Dense areas of plant life helps them navigate even at day. On dawn they will search for a new hiding spot or return to their hatchlings to feed them. Otherwise, they are loners and will only become more open to their kind, during the mating season.

Fertility happens around the age of 2 - 3 years and females can lay up to 5 eggs, if not even 6. The eggs however, are delivered through the mouth and must not longer stay in the abdomen than two weeks (otherwise the female Orchiatres will suffocate on their own offspring).

Orchiatres only mate every 6 months, where the males try to lure the females with a chirping tune. In these months, the males react very territorial towards other competitors or any other unwanted intruder. Those, that are not twice their height, will mostly suffer a brutal fight.

Is the impression towards the female successful, then the male will impregnate her with his mouth.

Other informations:

Orchiatres are also hunted by the Hyvras, since their meat has a quite gamey - sweet taste when prepared. They can even be tamed and keep vermin out of buildings.
