Here is my idea have a organelle that destroys toxins but each use it takes away 5 glucose. It would be a nice way to spice up combat and make defending yourself easier.
The cell should first build resistance towards toxin.

Yeah that could also work.
Once the cell have resistance, it won’t make sense from evolution perspective. That cell will go all the way to create toxin clearing chemical as it would be unwanted energy overhead.
Unless there is some advantage to do so.
make it so it is not constanly producing only when near toxins.
